Another one season wonder is being released in a DVD box set early this month. The complete first season for The Flash ( 1990 - 1991 Series ) will be available which includes the 90 minute pilot film in a 6 disc set. The episode of interest is the one titled : Alpha. Clair Stansfield plays the female android named Alpha in this episode. I have never seen this episode but i became aware of it around the time the series originally aired so i have no idea about the fembot content in the show. The following is a synopsis of the female android episode from 1991.
Alpha ( Airdate : May 11, 1991 ) - In a simulation of an assassination, an android named Alpha has been built and programmed to be an expert exterminator. But she cannot shoot the gun, as her programming has been too good. Her ability to make decisions has led her to believe murder is wrong, and has given her an overwhelming desire to live. She knows that the scientists who created her will reprogram her the next day, and since she does not want to become a killer, she escapes the lab. A couple days later, Barry is supposed to go to a club that is raising funds for a charity. Julio, who is running the affair lines up Tina to go with Barry to the Disco Inferno, but when Barry arrives at Star Labs Tina can't go. While at the lab he meets a new employee, the android Alpha, whom everyone thinks is a bit strange, but no one realizes that she isn't human. Arriving at the Disco Inferno alone, he runs into Alpha, who had ducked into the club to avoid some Federal officers following her. Barry asks her to dance, but she ducks out a door when she sees the officers coming after her. Barry chases her, but they are both stopped by Federal officers working for National Scientific Intelligence Agency, the top-secret agency that created Alpha. While Barry turns into the Flash to disarm the men, Alpha escapes, but only after her arm is hit with a bullet. Arriving at Star Labs with Tina, Barry finds the lab's security system disabled, and Alpha inside, her arm dripping blue fluid where she was shot, exposing her android nature. She explains why she ran away, and that she came to Star Labs because the company had done some of her design work. Alpha wants to learn how to disarm her self destruct mechanism - which the Federal officers can detonate within ten miles. As they talk the Federal officers arrive, along with Col. Powers, the ruthless director of the program that created Alpha. While the officers are at the lab Alpha escapes again, leaving Barry to have to locate her again - and figure out a way to keep her alive and out of the hands of the government.
