New comedy movie find

Post by minkwheel » Tue May 11, 2004 7:00 pm

Hi Kids......well...this film isn't TOO GYNOID-y, but it has some elements that may be of interest......I still have to pick this film UP, but I did want to report on it HERE just in case someone HAS SEEN IT...and can post a review.... ANYWAY....I was nosing around the cutout DVD bins, because you sometimes can find a gem among the drek...like CYBORG 2 for $5, etc ....CAME ACROSS THIS MADE FOR DVD FILM......NATIONAL LAMPOON'S "REPLI*KATE" --it has EUGENE LEVY in it, as well as a chippy that I believe is ALLY LANDRY....it's sort of a new version of 'WEIRD SCIENCE" when a copy of Kate is created in a cloning experiment..... i don't expect this movie to be anything but 80 minutes of nothingness....but there MAY be something cool or worthwhile in it.....check your WalMarts and or BEST BUYs kids....---minkwheel

Seen it, got no gynoid content what so ever...

But it does have Eugene Levy (love the old SCTV crew)

Not a bad flick, hot babe in it... please don't spend much $ on this movie... it's ok.. at best.

Thanks, Mirage! ---I was sure that it was a mediocre movie, and that there was no gynoid content.....the movie just jumped out at me as a pseudo find.....and I'm a total fan of SCTV.......WHENEVER WILL THEY PUT OUT A BOX SET OF THE BEST STUFF is BEYOND ME!!!! but I'd be there to pick it up in a flash!!! ----I'll put down that Volume 8 box of FRIENDS, or all of it's subsequent discs of pure overbudgetted "comedy" and pick up SCTV--- a show that survived YEARS on TALENT and a low budget..... --minkwheel

I have heard that about the first season my self. Being a Canadian and an avid SCTV fan. I loved that show.

I have also heard about that movie in question. Not good at all. for gynoid content. NONE.

Saw it...waste of time and money...no gynoids at all. Save your hard-earned bucks for the Stepford Wives when that goes directly to DVD...

About the only good thing about Repli KATE is Ali Landry (the Doritos Girl)

wow SCTV... Still airs on the comedy network from time to time in Canada. Eugene Levy is the man lol. Another SCTV actor, John Candy played in Spaceballs :) i think he played the dog LOL... Little Gynoid Content in that movie though.

Talking about SCTV, I wonder if any one ever notice in my Avatar "my location" is a direct link to SCTV????

Again, about the movie, the dorito girl is hot, that is not denyable. (Sadly, you don't clearly see her naked...)

Spoiler.................down..

In the movie, near the end, they do a clone of Eugene Levy with the brain capacity of a dorito that can only say one word :

"Penis"

And of course, the clone manage somehow to become the new American President of USA....

That is how the movie end...

Hey, I am not making this up!!

(I think it's after the credits)...

MIRAGE...if you ARE from THE GREAT WHITE NORTH...your avitar should be wearing a TOUQUE........I SURELY CAN NOT WAIT for an SCTV BOXset ...it will bring back so many memories.... There are a ton of very talented comedy troupes in Canada....besides SECOND CITY, I think I truly enjoy THE FRANTICS, and THE VESTIBULES....oh, and of course... KIDS IN THE HALL... any others I should seek out??

--------if there are any fans of 70's BRITISH COMEDY...I suggest they seek out 'THE GOODIES" ....one of my VERY FAVORITE comedy shows of all time for SURE! -- Their shows are finally beginning to be placed on DVD, and a REGION FREE double disc collection of VOLUME ONE is hopping about SOMEWHERE in the world for me.....they won't release it in the states ....just Europe....so REGION FREE is the way to GO if I want to get some more shows........but I digress. --minkwheel

ps When was Alannis Morriset on "You Can't..."? I remember watching that when I was in high school, right before (or after?) Danger Mouse...

I should apologize, but I have never heard of 4ONTHEFLOOR, and I will seek 'em out to sample "the goods" .....CANADIANS ARE MASTERS of troupe comedy, I do remember Alanis on YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON TELEVISION....it was Nickelodeon's FIRST BREAK OUT HIT ....she was there for the time when Christine McGlade was getting older, and they focused on ALISTAIR more..........also.....keeping the flavor of OTTOWA going, the same producers of YOU CAN'T, did a show for Nickelodeon called 'TURKEY TELEVISION" which was a basic clip show from stations all over the world......many of the segments from that show came from MY STATE OF NEW JERSEY from the beloved 'UNCLE FLOYD SHOW" .... Uncle Floyd was recently honored in s song by DAVID BOWIE called 'SLIP AWAY" .....BOWIE and JOHN LENNON used to watch Uncle Floyd together in the late 70's early 80's..................--minkwheel

Never saw Uncle Floyd "I wish I did!"

Don't you love low budget comedy shows?? (L) (Canada is cheap for producing comedies like thoses good old shows.

That's when you see the real talent come out like "kids in the hall"

Father : Son, did you clean the kitchen?

Son : yes, dad.

Father : Good... did you clean your room?

Son : yes dad..

Father : Good... did you clean the gun?

Son : yes dad...

Father : Good...

BLAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Dad suicide) (From the movie : Brain-Candy)

Another show I remember watching at 2:00am from Australia was "CKWY TV", something like that..and of course, the brit gem "Red Dwarf" (YAY! FINALLY ON DVD HERE, just need the cash for it now!"

For USA programs, I loved the old "Saturday night Live" of course...
(I stop watching it 10 years ago... sometimes, I flick on it and MAN! CRAPPOLA!!!)(my opinion alone)

Mirage

PS: Sorry if I completely derailed the topic, it's just the nostalgia....
(wiping tears away....the good old days...

TV IS CRAP TODAY COMPARED TO 20 years ago!!!!!!!! (My opnion only)

Hey...I'm only HELPING TO DERAIL THE TOPIC MOREso.... Saturday Night Live was WONDERFUL back in the day, because they mined the talent FROM Second City, National Lampoon, and such....so that the talent onstage for a LIVE show would know how to fix a situation if it got out of hand, or be quick witted enough to improv out of the bad scene.... it WORKED...Canada has a wonderful way to work in improv, because they tell their actors to play off of the OTHER person's strengths...if EVERYONE on stage does that, you have great performances from everyone, and no egos on who got the best lines. SMART THINKING, and it keeps everyone on their toes and creative. The main thing to watch on SNL nowadays is WEEKEND UPDATE, with TINA FEY and JIMMY FALLON.... it's the only section of the show that is fresh.....Plus, Tina Fey makes an EXCELLENT HEAD WRITER. .......as far as COMEDY TROUPES go....for AMERICA, my favorite has to be ............THE FIRESIGN THEATRE! --yes, this shows my age, but they are so LAYERED with their performances, that you can find something new each time you listen to a bit.
AS FAR AS UNCLE FLOYD goes....he's still a Jersey icon... his show was sort of considered a 'POOR MAN'S SOUPY SALES" type of show.... no budget, and some sketches fell flat, but they kept rolling anyway, just to try and make each other laugh.....vaudevillian style, loose, and even a wall that housed viewer DRAWINGS -----most older viewers made sure that their pictures were BADLY DONE on purpose so that they'd be ripped from the wall .....Floyd owns some nightclubs, and his brother Jimmy Vivino plays on CONAN O'BRIEN's show every night. Floyd wants to stay around Jersey, and it's people, so he plays at his nightclubs for HOURS on end at times to meet and greet fans.........okay.....I'm done for now. --minkwheel
