I think it’s a case of narrative convenience. Robotisation (or the remote/mind-contril aspect) makes it easy to set up a scenario where people can engage in sex without internalised moral frameworks (i.e. maternal or sisterly aversion to incest) getting in the way of the porn, which is usually focused on the other, i.e. incest, aspect rather than thr actual robot aspect.

In short, the robot scenario is a lazy man’s way of setting up an otherwise unrealistic sex scenario.

Now I don’t know about you, but I always feel vaguely disappointed and annoyed that our major turn-on is used so often as a throwaway device in the fetish industry.

Reviews say Zoe of the film Zoe is definitely a robot, revealed in the second half. She was also supposedly designed to be the lover of the founder of the company shown in the movie which might have some Stepford-esque promise.
