Stepford vs. Bionic Woman
The dialogue I typed was from the "Kill Oscar" episode of the Bionic Woman - the scene where Jaime realized that Callahan isn't Callahan. Just thought it was similar to Stepford in that there's a confrontation between friends involving robots and coffee.

See, it's just like I said in that other thread. Eventually there will be sub-genres of ASFR for every known object or concept no matter how seemingly unrelated. We have confirmed income taxes and now coffee. Brussels sprouts? Just a matter of time.

One more piece of the puzzle
This article:
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/entertain ... ily%20Mail
Hints at the plot of the new movie - mentioning that in the new movie, Joanna is playing things much shrewdly than the original Joanna (who was a sap, like any good horror character). I'm guessing the review is based on previewing the new movie since it has a lot of similar info to the aintitcool review. But it also hints at a different spin - the women are robots after all (though I guess it could be the same - robots with brain implants MIGHT qualify as robots, though I'd say the terms should be android at that point).
Anyway, I thought I'd through this you folks' way

Hmm,
There's a video interview with the cast of TSW here:
http://extratv.warnerbros.com/dailynews ... 3_25c.html
I don't have the realplayer and don't want the spyware that goes with it. So if someone who has realplayer could watch this, it would be cool.

One quote from the interview on the page was:
"But Kidman was programmed for mischief when "Extra" met up with her and her all-star supporting cast. "I hadn’t actually seen the original," Kidman revealed.
"But that wasn't the only secret we got from Kidman, Glenn Close, Bette Midler, Matthew Broderick, Faith Hill and Jon Lovitz. Lovitz laughingly revealed that, "I had a nude scene with Nicole, but they cut it because they said, ‘Jon, you’re so beautiful nude, no one will look at Nicole.'"
==> If they cut nude Fembot scene with Nicole, why that's just criminal (and hopefully will repear on the delux DVD).

New Picture
Enjoy

You'd assume that in the center you have pre-robot Nicole and Bette, on the left you have (probably robot) Glen Close and on the left (Lorri Bagley or some other minor character).
On another, in the interviews with the cast at Showest, they mentioned that everyone had a nude scene. So it seems like they're promising hot android sex - not a bad thing.

I'm not seeing anything new. Just the usual View the Trailer and Join the Neighborhood selections. I did notice the url has changed to just stepfordwives. Paramount must have bought the domain back, because someone else had it for some time.
FYI, there were a substantial number of clips shown on Entertainment Tonight tonight. Sorry I couldn't post earlier, but if there's a late night rerun in your area it's worth checking out. Best bit of the bunch, and the one that has me dreading this film at the same time; Post Stepfordized Bette is repeating "Goodbye . . .goodbye . . .goodbye" when from off camera a hand smacks her in the back of the head like an old black and white Zenith with this hokie sound effect, and she corrects herself with "so long." or words to that effect. Gosh my sides are killing me from the laughter.

Saw the new non-teaser trailer (actual footage!) before Ladykillers on Saturday - still looks intriguing... Apparently they're borrowing from the original with the 'black eyes' look of the about-to-be stepford wives' bodies.

Th
Here is the ET episode:
http://home.comcast.net/~edpan/
It sounds like there is also a new trailer being shown in theaters. I had thought the ET preview would be the same but looking at it, I'm not certain - it seems like specific to ET.
Anyway, it look good. It might be a little "slapsticky" but there's no pathetic slapstick.
And work-out photo is explained.

This movie....
This movie is to me just another running joke about things 70's. On certain men as well,Mathew B's line about his wife being better at everything than he. I know I can't resist a peek at the film (I once told my self that I'll try to avoid reading any posts here on it) I hope I'm able to watch much of it with the sound off. This movie makes me think of stuff like Starsky and Hutch the VH1 "I love the 70's" series and the like period.

Well,
I think the movie will have different degrees of appeal depending on what aspect of fetish appeals to you. If you are very taken with the machine appearance, robotic motion and "machine-ness" then the movie might only be mediocre. If you are more taken with the control parts of fembot fetishes, like me, then the movie might be right up your alley. Anyway, I can't say that anyone else should excited by this or not.
One thing is that I actually hope the movie isn't successful - that would mean it would go to DVD sooner and I'd get a chance to watch the best scenes and skip the shlock.
Now, favorite scene from the preview is the golfing scene, whether one wife seems to be serving as tireless caddy for a group of men.

That may not be what everyone is looking for but it's damn cool in my particular book.

Hmm,
Yeah,
If you average the comments out, you get that TSW is a poor though not abysmal movie - the faster to DVD my pretty. One poster said something about it having ponderously slow plot development - if that development includes lots of gynoid action, then it could be ideal.
Perhaps the part in the movie where Nicole seems to have been robotized will be long enough that I'll be able to end it right there.
And there's that possible alternate ending floating around.
Thinking back, I think truly good art makes lousy robot-fetish content and good robot-fetish makes lousy art. So TSW will perhaps only appeal to us and hardcore fans of Kidman and Midler.

Re: Aint it cool review
That first (negative) review basically sums up what I'm expecting out of this film. (Assuming the spoilers it contains are true, I also guessed the plot correctly.) Hopefully those low expectations will allow me to be pleasantly surprised when I actually see it.Rotwang wrote:http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=17299
