Re: Members with multiple accounts
Well, roleplaying is not happening on the forum, and while I lightly pondered on using another handle for differently-themed works, I don't think there's any use for multis in here. I may be wrong, and I'd encourage anyone with a good reason to PM the mods and sort it out with them. Otherwise, undisclosed multis are more a liability than anything else.

I agree with Kishin. Allowing multiple accounts really opens up a number of doors to abuse.

Re: Members with multiple accounts
Valid reasons for multiple accounts:
I say, the possibilities for misuse of multiple accounts which affect the workings of Fembot Central are very limited. Forging random polls is ho-hum, and we had only one contest so far and need to get tighter control over voting may be accomplished by taking additional security measures. Banned users will disregard any policy, that's why they are banned. No policy can stop them, only being trigger-happy can. So having a policy can only target people who are already well-behaving with their multiple accounts. So: what the heck?!
Misuse of multiple accounts in regard to user-user interaction should be negotiated between users themselves. We are all grown-up here and don't need a nanny who tells us whom to play with and whom not. As listed on top, there is a great number of valid reasons to have multiple accounts and the majority of honest users will neither tweak, twiddle nor frobnicate the system nor offend people they want to have fun with.
A last word: lying about oneself is absolutely necessary to start a relationship, as we are all pretty unattractive in relation to the lies told by others (e.g. media, ads, and our fantasy). To be honest, in my view, doesn't mean to have no secrets, but never to fleece, to shaft people. That's a matter of conscience, noone but the person acting can decide when they are ready to reveal a certain secret to another person.
- Separating works done for different people, so aquitances/customers can't connect without explicit notice.
- Separating roleplay accounts. Some people may not want to reveal their work (or all of their work) to roleplay partners and vice versa.
- Separating levels of perversion. Some people may want to start with a clean slate when first seeking contact to others.
- Dodging feuds. Some people have followers who start fights on specific topics, not because of the content of some posting but just because of the person who wrote it. It can be wise to avoid those fights by using a secondary account which is unlikely to provoke stereotypical comments.
- Posting photomanips. Face it: you shouldn't do that. Aside from bending fair use laws (nonexistant in the EU!) you also bend personality laws a great deal. If you broke it, you better have your manips spreaded over multiple accounts so you are convicted only for a dozen instead of hundreds.

Re: Members with multiple accounts
As I said, I don't mind people having, and using multiple accounts, if they have a good reason to do so. There is another site where I have 2 accounts, because my original one attracted a stalker of the wrong kind, so I had to principally use the other for a while. But I make sure that the 2 never actually talk to each other at any time.
There is another forum I'm on, where there are whole threads, where history has proved its the same person talking to, and praising the original poster, himself. Not so good.
So fine, allow it, but say make it a case that said person has to put forward a good reason to one of the Admins for having more than one profile?

Oh, I guess there really is more nuance to this after-all @.@ Perhaps, allowing a number of exceptions may be the best alternative.Stephaniebot wrote:As I said, I don't mind people having, and using multiple accounts, if they have a good reason to do so. Re: Members with multiple accounts
Perhaps, but as I say, a good reason for doing so would be needed, not just, oh I want one for general postings, and another for my images, and another for my stories. So, the number of people who should need them, probably on the fingers of a hand, no more

Re: Members with multiple accounts
I have to concur with the points eloquently made by darkbutflashy. There are certainly many valid reasons why people involved in a fringe sexual fetish of any sort would want to keep their anonymity, even among people of the same fetish. Multiple accounts would allow a greater degree of freedom in protecting the individual.
Additionally, from a psychological aspect, people have different sides to their personalities. Surely all of you who pretend to be fembots here on the board don't do so when you're at your workplaces. So right from the start we already recognize that we are all capable of multiple facets. What would be the purpose of drawing an arbitrary line in the sand here?
I understand the mod concerns about possible abuse, but anyone who would abuse such a system has likely already done so. It's not particularly difficult to make multiple accounts on here already. I lost the password on my old account here long ago, which is why I had to start this one, even though I had some pretty good stories on the old one. Now, that's not a case of my using two accounts so much as replacing one with the other, but the point is still the same -- there was no mechanism in place to prevent me from doubling up (nor would one truly even be possible; any ban on multiple accounts would necessarily be purely legislative in nature).
In summation I think that a ban on multiple accounts is unnecessarily punitive and only constricts people who use the board legitimately in the first place. My vote goes toward allowing them.

Re: Members with multiple accounts
"Losing a password is not a reason to create a new account"? That's almost certainly the most valid reason possible to create a new account, and if you've already set your mind about that, I don't see why we're bothering to even have this discussion. Clearly you're just going to do what you like anyway, so why lead us into thinking our opinions on the subject matter?

Re: Members with multiple accounts
For the record, the reason I was not able to retrieve the previous account is because I also lost access to the email address assigned to it; I was using a private server and the domain registration ran out. So I guess my only option was to just never post on the board again?

Ah, I can live with that. It's not that anyone couldn't have guessed it by now.

Re: Members with multiple accounts
You can be sure the ones doing nasty things with multiple accounts will take care never to be listed as "alternate account" or something like this. For the record: I did reveal the connection to my first account to the R-Man the very moment I've created it. I have no problem with the staff knowing the connection. I have no problems with people guessing the connection and making their own conclusions.
However, I have a problem with people longing to "uncover" the connection. Because I don't want it to be public to buffoons of any sort, that's the very reason I had created a second account for my manip works.
Thank you for not musing about who's who.
