This Weekends Andromeda

Post by ANDROID69 » Sat Feb 14, 2004 10:11 pm

Hey Fellow ASFRains,
I was watching Andromeda today & there was some good ASFR content. In a Another reality Dylan has died years ago & made a Mytar, but his crew has gone there separate ways. After finally reactivating Romy, Dylan & Romy are on a planet where Harper is in charge. Dylan & Romy are looking for clue about this world when Romy spots a deactivated female Tour guide android. Romy opens a back panel to activate her. This is a very short part but was played & there sounds from her joints as she moves & quite few shots of her back panel. As the female android walks off her back panel is swinging & which you can also hear, she reaches around & closes it. I know its not something great but it was quite good. The episode is called I think... "LOOKING IN TE INVISABLE MIRROR" I'm also posting this to say I'm still here as well.
Take care fellow ASFRains,

About 4 episodes back, another episode called "Machinery of the Mind" had a quick 2 second shot of Rommie's avatar on the ground stiff with arms & legs up. The same vidcap site had this JPG of the moment: http://www.ladymaigrey.com/seasonfour/mind/133.jpg

A couple of episodes back Dyllan was on trial for crimes against the comonwealth and one of the things he was charged was killing a female robot created by one or the other of his ennemies. They just showed a brief shot of him blasting the bot and I wasn't rolling tape. Anybody catch the episode from wich this scene was taken?

Extended Synopsis:

The Andromeda is in slipstream, running a losing race against pursuing bounty hunters. As they run out of fuel and options, Dylan (Kevin Sorbo) turns to Harper’s new em-bender, an unfinished cloaking device, for help. With the enemy closing, Dylan has little choice but to use it. As soon as he fires it, Harper disappears. Dylan is still in the machine shop but everything is dark and powered down. He winds his way through the ship looking for his crew but finds only dark corridors and cobwebs. He makes his way to the observation deck to look outside and finds himself on a forested planet with a giant likeness of himself carved into a huge mountainside. He returns to the machine shop and plugs himself into the virtual reality console. He searches the ships A.I. matrix and finds Andromeda’s cyber-representation. She confirms it is still the current Commonwealth year, but she has on record that Dylan died a war hero after putting down a Nietzschean insurrection. [See clip] He exits the matrix and finds Rommie (Lexa Doig). Upon venturing outside, he is hardly received as a hero on the planet that bears his monument, for as soon as they are spotted they are fired upon. They duck down an alley and find a deactivated Guide Droid (Michelle Harrison). Rommie reactivates her and the droid explains that they are in the midst of a civil war. The High Guard assassinated its Triumvirate and Commander Harper (Gordon Michael Woolvett), has taken command of the Commonwealth forces. A rebellion against Harper is led by General Rebecca Valentine (Lisa Ryder), whose forces built hundreds of explosive “Dylan” replicas for neutralizing Commonwealth military targets. With High Guard police on their tail, the droid leads them to the rebel bunker.

Rhade (Steve Bacic), chief of the High Guard police, is bringing Harper up to date. They believe Dylan is an explosive replica, though clearly a highly sophisticated one. Rhade is also confused about the presence of Rommie. He recognizes her as the legendary Andromeda’s avatar, but believes that she is another of the replicas made by Marshall Zebra (Michael Anthony Rawlins), General Valentine’s second in command. He is confident they will find them both at the rebel bunker. Harper asks next about the em-bender, which was somehow transported with Dylan to this reality but they are uncertain of its applications.

Dylan is trying to convince General Valentine that he is the real man but from another reality, not a re-programmed explosive unit sent by Harper. She remains unconvinced until Harper himself contacts her, attempting to make a deal to hand over Rommie and what he thinks is the newest “Dylan” model. [See clip] They get little time to consider as Harper’s thugs suddenly invade the bunker. Dylan quickly convinces her to help, offering Harper’s coveted ship, the Maru, as collateral. They are on their way out when Dylan sees Marshall Zebra disappear as Harper shoots him with the em-bender. They escape the surrounding policemen who dive for cover when Dylan bluffs, threatening to blow himself up. The rebels are sneaking towards the Andromeda when a cloaked figure calls to Dylan. It is Trance (Laura Bertram), or one aspect of her. She has spread herself thin across many realities to track him down and offer help. She first warns Dylan the Abyss does exist here too. It was responsible for Harper’s fall to evil, but they both feel that he is not beyond help and thwarting the Abyss here would weaken it in all realities. They catch up with the rest of the rebels, already on board the dusty Andromeda.

General Valentine is on the command deck with Rommie who has the ship partially powered up. They are about to lift off from dry dock when the A.I. reports intruders. Rhade and Harper are sneaking up a corridor with the em-bender and a compliment of High Guard police. They split into two teams with Rhade leading his when he turns to find his guards gone and Dylan in their place. Dylan attacks but Rhade cuts his cheek with his bone-blades, revealing at last that he is no replica. Dylan knocks him on his back and makes his escape. He activates the hologram in his office and confronts Harper in the machine shop, feeling that even in this reality Harper is still his friend and he must save him from the Abyss. He knows deep inside Harper is an idealist with a heart and he tries to reach that man now. He quotes his own essays that Harper memorized at the academy, telling him to obey the light inside him and reverse the evil he has beset upon this reality. When Dylan’s hologram disappears, Harper drops the em-bender and finds Rhade. He orders an evacuation of the ship and Rhade doesn’t argue. While Harper’s psyche was undergoing its personal coup, Rhade infiltrated Dylan’s office and set the Andromeda’s auto-destruct. The airlock won’t budge and they brace for death but the countdown passes without incident. Andromeda announces the completion of the simulation and they realize the trick. Harper is still intent on getting out but Rhade has his designs set on usurping control of the ship. Harper has decided to save his own soul and when he gives one final order to leave the ship, Rhade shoots him and he dies at peace on the floor. A ship wide announcement informs Rhade of his impending arrest due to a change of command on the planet. Trance is in the machine shop with the em-bender trained on Dylan. She speaks one last ambiguous clue: Almathea. Then she fires. Dylan is instantly back in the machine shop, the lights are on and Harper stands before him, relieved. The em-bender didn’t cloak them but Dylan was only gone for thirty seconds and they still have time. Beka says they can get enough power from the Maru to get to a nearby galaxy and re-fuel from an exploding star. One of the choices is Almathea, where a star is going supernova just in time for them to make their getaway. [See clip]

There was so much potential with this deactivated tour guide android! I would have loved to know why she was deactivated, and for how long, and why she still could power up(I'm sure her batteries were a bit low). I love that open panel stitched around her uniform. I would have taken her with us and did a complete overhaul on her and used her for other tasks, most likely requiring her to be reprogrammed. An android in good shape is a great find!
