I too used to find the page view counter useful, but I don't think it's useful enough to justify slowing down page speed. It gives the wiki a decrepit and broken appearance.

If the counter have fembot effect example
Fe-fe-fem-fem-bot over-ver-ver-ove-ove-overload bzzzt bom if the visit is hi and if the visit is low
Uhm my battery need charge but people recharge their phone not my battery ok me gusta but if only have fembot style
