Friend / Foe feature request.

The board has been fabulously drama-free, lately, and historically (considering the nature of much of the web). So this isn't an idea based on any particular thing happening here. Just something I noticed on other boards.

phpBB has a friend / foe feature that can be installed - basically allows you to create a list of users you want to keep track of, or ones you want to ignore. If it's not too big of a pain to enable / install - might be useful for certain cases.

I know this isn't a democracy but I'll throw in my two cents. I think the addendum "might be useful for certain cases" is the part I agree with. I don't dislike anyone in particular that posts here. Kishin is right, we all have different things we like. However, there are some who don't add anything to a discussion and only post the same thing over and over and over, changing the words to fit the original posters topic but it always comes down to the same thing. It's a minor annoyance at best, admittedly. It would still be convenient to not have to see it EVERY SINGLE TIME they post. Who knows, maybe there are others who feel that way about my posts.

Anyway, like I said, I know it's a small thing but I don't think 33cl33 was off base for bringing it up. Had I known about it, I'd have probably mentioned it myself.

Valid points all around... Last thing I want is to create any tension where it isn't already.

If it's complicated to implement, no worries. But I can think of more than a few scenarios where having that sort of filter might actually lead to more engagement.

The drought of posts here might, I feel at least in part, have something to do with some of the conflicting natures of our collective reasons for coming to the site.

Not a big deal. Just something I'd been thinking about, figured I'd toss it out there.
