HI Kids... I've had ANIME NETWORK on my Digital Cable service for a while, and I have to say that it's FUN--and offers a surprise or two at times for the fembot fan.....lately, they are showcasing CHOBITS, ZOE DELORES, and the BUBBLEGUM CRISIS tv series.....among other fine thingies...

I DID have a nice surprise when watching the third episode of MAZINKAISER..........for those in OLD SCHOOL ANIME YEARS, this is the new sequel to MAZINGA Z and GREAT MAZINGA, by GO NAGAI, the same bad boy manga artist responsible for CUTEY HONEY....... ANYWAY.... this new series from last year is being put on DVD by ADVision, or ADV FILMS as they like to be called now, they RUN Anime Network, AND Newtype USA magazine as well....so a ton of AD VISION titles flood the channel...... MAZINKAISER is the newest generation giant robot in the series, and the original pilot of Mazinga Z is it's pilot.... YES, Venus Ace is in the series as well.....a newer version, but they still make her out to be about TEN SECONDS OF USEFULNESS, and the rest of the time, she is in need of Koji's macho help.....I know this was a staple of the old series, but it just makes me cringe when the girls have to play weak and helpless for the betterment of the hero's machismo...the "you're just a dumb girl, what can you do but get in the way?" syndrome...........this is a point for another day, but my main reason in writing was THIS....
In the third episode in the series, Dr. Hell's Half man/half woman baddie assistant unleashes three identical triplet blond and ponytailed android asassins to kill Koji Kabuto--Mazinkaiser's pilot...... they are in a few brief scenes, but some would make for a nice vid cap or two on the boards here.....blank stares, deadpan voice deliveries, some circuits exposed---but only after one or two were sliced from head to butt by a laser.............and a Go Nagai trademark, flashes of nudity when you least expect 'em..... CUTEY HONEY'S 'flash" was just that...she couldn't change into anything she wanted to unless she was nude first.....but that's another show. Hope someone can get some vidcaps posted as US television is beyond my realms of availability.Certainly sounds like a fascinating series anyway.
