Re: So I'm cancelling my subscription to ScifiDreamgirls
Ashley seemed to drop the website entirely. From what she posted on this thread, it seemed like she had difficulty getting memberships to pay for her expensive videos.
One problem that I think made the website fail (in my opinion) was that the fembot content was really, really lacking. She put a ton of money and effort in the wrong place. Huge, lavish, and amazing looking 20 minute episodes would include just 2 minutes of actual malfunctions and other fembot aspects. But the rest would be dedicated to just two (or more) people having sex. I mean, the actresses were amazingly gorgeous and they always did a good job, but I can get that anywhere. I've always noticed that when a video adheres entirely to actual fembot content, the film maker makes an ridiculous amount of money. Look at Diana Knight's "Recalled". That video was what I was expecting with every Ashley fires update--but didn't get.
To her credit, most of her videos near the end added a little more malfunction and reprogramming content every time. "The Rivalry" series was amazing, and "Bunny Breakdown" was even better. If she made shorter, more supportable videos every week with fembot content, and ONLY fembot content---I would immediately hop back on board. And I think many others would too. But her videos don't commit to the fetish, just to a general sci-fi theme. The purely sexual content alienated me, and the bits of fembot/sci-fi content probably alienated everyone else. So she had neither audience captivated.
That's where her website failed for me. It was mostly just sci-fi themed porn. Not ASFR videos.

from what I noticed on her stop at livecamnetwork, was she has lovely ladies, but lacks the skills to perform as an android or fembot that this community has come to expect. I think there have been many sites that have done the same thing; lavish set but worries more about the porn side of it over the fetish side of it.

Bingo. There was one video called "Sassybot" that I really wanted to like, and–not beng a member–had only seen in a 12-minute "sample" version, without the ending, that the site circulated as a promo.AmpFetish wrote:Huge, lavish, and amazing looking 20 minute episodes would include just 2 minutes of actual malfunctions and other fembot aspects. In it, a bossy, sassy African-American fembot talks back to her creators; she's been programmed with knowledge of black history, knows about the old stereotypes, and so is rightly pissed to find herself costumed in maid fetish gear. Her programmers want to turn off her sass and she's angry about it.
What a good idea: you've got cultural context mixed with the reprogramming theme.
Unfortunately, the reprogramming turns out to be easy; in seconds she's reduced to a boring serf, having sex like anyone. I had hoped her sass and the reprogramming/racism themes would reemerge later, but according to a friend here who watched the full version, they never do! Just totally nonspecific sex. Even though the video is actually called "Sassybot."
It's a shame, because so much effort was clearly put into it.
Re: So I'm cancelling my subscription to ScifiDreamgirls
I understand people have an issue with the robot content or lack thereof. For me, personally, that wasn't the issue...for the most part. I enjoy the productions for the content, the amount of sex is like a bonus for me rather than a negative. My only concern was the lack of updates. Like I mentioned, I understand that the lack of return on investment kind of forced their hand in being able to produce weekly content as was originally intended. I wanted the site to succeed more than just about anything else, that's why I ponied up for a full year on opening day. I still buy every fembot production from Ashley's clips4sale store the day it's released and 9 times out of 10 I am happy with my purchase. And if by some miracle the site does pick up more subscribers in the future and is able to afford to start producing content at a consistent rate, I'd pay the monthly fee if I was guaranteed 1, for sure, new video a month as it would be about what buying them a la carte from clips4sale works out to, then I would re-up my subscription. As it stands, I am still very grateful that Ashley has an interest in producing this kind of content at all and will continue to support her in that endeavor.
