Fembots are defined by their sexual capabilities, and by our free access to their bodies as objects (since they only simulate ego and will).
Fembots should be a safely reliable technology, in both hardware and software; but Fembots need vulnerabilities, imperfections of a sort, and they need to be needed (if they are to be of any use). The designers aren't looking for superheroine self-sufficiency, but rather the right amount of dependency on her owner.
The Fembot should simulate malfunctions. Malfunctions are symbolic of a graduated transition from Sleeper to Sexbot. She performs the change from [a successfully-convincing fembot, programmed to fool her"self" as well] to what she TRULY is. She is revealed, as not the gorgeous-but-never-sexually-accessible, independent, thinking human female person, but in fact she is a gorgeous-and-always-sexually-accessible, dependent, non-thinking inhuman female object. It's the ideal reveal, a 180 degree turn-around on your previously doomed prospects of getting lucky. That's the gamut from Sleeper to Sexbot, but don't run through to the end too fast.
Older fembots, and guesses about what fembots would someday be like when invented, were prone to many specific modes of impairment and breakdown. A record skips, a woman stammers, and a Fembot needs to signify problems mounting. She PRETENDS to be more fragile than Underwriters Labs will tolerate. Our experiences with real machines, or experiences of them through movies and print, have provided many possible cues she can perform. Her sound effects, off motions and wrong words can weave together the turbulence which eventually pops her bubble and defaults the Sleeper back into her basic, fundamental robot nature.
This is not a story about torturing the personality of a woman, but exorcising her "spirit" from the machine on which it is running. Imagine a t.v. forgets it's a t.v., and thinks it's just watching t.v. with you. Bad news for only the t.v., when you have to re-assert ownership of the object. We want a product that can't fight back. Since we learn she IS a robot, then nothing important was at stake. Terrible, terrible news for the personality program which really "wanted" to believe she was human. For a program?! Bah and Pooh! I think it's beautiful, because she's never more blatantly a fembot, and therefore never sexier, than when her run-time personality is corrupted and crashing.
Once she's lost her "mind", her Sleeper-illusion shattered, the superior pleasure generated by the Sexbot proves that this is not just one of her several modes - but this is her true function, as engineered into her chassis and her code.
After such a revelation and romp, her programming has her responding very positive about having been confronted with the lie of her personality, and having been sexed-up, and now she is wiser about what sexiness is at the root. What a silly "virgin" the Sleeper had been! but celebrate, because she's back from whatever transient program she was running, to being ego-free and spectacularly fembotic.
Over and over again, it's the re-enactment of a tender, lustful coming-of-age-like story, for a Fembot which had been programmed to deny her own Truth.
