The screenwriter and the director are relatively under the radar, so I hope we'll get something fresh and smart, not some Michael Bay-like cynical pixel gruel.

Anyway, we'll get 4k fembots. That's a great start.

I really don't get this casting choice. Not even going the whitewashing route, I just plainly don't see Scarlett Johansson as Motoko Kusanagi - hell, I only saw Rinko Kikuchi in Pacific Rim, and she comes far more easily in mind. Are they thinking Scarlett Johansson has more cred to the sci-fi crowd than GitS?

The problem is that they are going trying to sell this to a wider audiance then just the ghost in the shell fans, and this will be the movies downfall.
The movie should be set in japan with japanese actors.
I can (maybe) live with the fact that the characters spoke english, but the movie was doomed from the start when they decided that motoko is going to be played by a caucasian.
So i try to make the best of it and hope that we at least see some nice robot effects and to see Scarlet opened up or mallfunctioning.
