Problems, and Imporant News

Post by Muzzleruffels » Fri Aug 22, 2014 12:17 pm

Sorry if this isn't the right board to post this topic on, but I wanted to deliver some upcoming news about myself before it could have been too late.
-----------------------

I've mentioned along time ago that my computer wasn't the most "up-to-date", and that it constantly shut off from time to time; unfortunately it's gone from that to flashing the horrible Blue Screen upon me on occasion.

I don't know how much longer my computer will last, and because of this, I don't know how often I can update my Freak World story threads, or anything else for that matter. Due to a lack of employment or income, a proper repair or replacement isn't likely anytime soon.

I plan on finishing up the third chapter of my main FW story before the end of this weekend, but I'm sorry to say that I can't make any promises; and just as a warning: I'm sorry to say that out of all the chapters before it, this one has a definite lack of ASFR content, once again. Any other stories I'm working on, I can't clarify when those will be finished.

Because I have no idea how active I'll be on the site, I decided that now would be the time to make a big announcement for fans of my literary work:

To those who don't know, this is the link to my Technological Encyclopedia on the verse in which my stories take place in. It details the specifications, technological designs, and historical background by which my work is founded upon. The reason I wrote this is to polish my own hand at 'world-building', but I also wanted to provide a template for anyone who wished to addon or create their own stories within the Freak World universe.

In short: I want you guys to write your own Freak World stories.

I imagined FW years ago as an anthology series, with the first to partake in this being the wonderful (albeit absent) Zero; and although it never carried off then, I hope that now, with me in crisis and so many inspired, that this collaborative effort can finally soar.
And since the series is based on a fictionalized park, the potential for writers to create "guest experiences and scenarios" is near endless.

All that is to do is simple: If you have a FW story of your own you'd like to post, just do so on the following link below.

Or, if you would like to add something to the FW Encyclopedia, or need advice on making a story, please PM me; but because I don't know how often I'll be able to get to my account, I can't guarantee I'll be able to help all the time.

I'm so grateful to have inspired so many, and I hope that I can overcome these conflicts. Thank you all, and I pray to see you soon. :)

Two possible problems: Dust or broken capacitators. The first is easy to fix by cleaning *all* the cooling fans from dust, hairs and tobacco stain, the second isn't something an average user can fix. But it's never wrong to try cleaning.

Yeah; I wish the issues were as simple to resolve as that. And as fun as it seems, I'm not the kind of lad who has their laptop in the bed.

Actually, I've recently discovered the issue my computer has is that the usb-ports don't function properly, and by that I mean they only seem to work on some.....selective conditions.:
  • *My computer has to stay idle for more than an hour
*Only one usb-port can be used at one time
*And the computer mustn't be set on Stand-by prior to using it
Along with all that, the chances of my computer working even with these conditions is slim.

What makes the situation even more tough to get through is the fact that my computer has no built-in wireless mechanic, with the only means of it being achieved via a USB Wireless plug. And because I have no means of either writing something on my laptop or transferring it to a flash drive, getting a finished story to you guys is not an easy feat; I actually lost a story I began working on recently.

I'm working on getting a better PC as much as I can, yet I have no idea how long it'll be before I accomplish my goal.

Without going through the hassle of a kickstarter program, why not offer to write stories in exchange for upfront monies to pay for the hardware you need? You would keep a receipt of money donated as a from of I.O.U. to be repaid in the form of a custom story. This is something you're already trying on Deviantart. I think you need to set up a paypal account and be a bit more direct with the members of this board.
In the past we've proven one thing: We WILL pay for our entertainments, and if enough of the members here value your story contributions, then I'm sure together we can contribute enough to help you.
Think on it.
I thank you for the well-given advice, Kishin, and I agree that a direct-pay service is a much better platform for story-commissions than the tedious and at-times convoluted Points system DA uses. Yet when I tried setting up a Paypal account, I was conflicted on how much personal info. of mine would be given out through the system; I also found that registration requires a phone-number, something that (oddly enough) I don't have.
I'm a private individual, and I chose to use the DA points as a means of payment rather than legitimate money from my personal desire to withhold something as private as an address or bank account.
That's my own problem, and although it makes my job tough(and tough on others), it's how I wish to be.

Given the conditions of my situation, my presence on the site will be a small one, for some time. I'll try resolving these issues so I can get back to work as soon as possible, but until then:

Thank You guys! See you soon!
