Thank you for linking this. I add The Definitive Guide to Theming GRUB2 for all that like to fiddle with the software. Theming is pages 40ff, the stuff before is "Installing GRUB2" but I bet your friendly Linux distributor has already done that for you.
Customizing the plymouth startup screen is another story.
