Ghost/co-writing Stepford

Post by dale coba » Thu May 01, 2014 9:21 am

Years of struggle have shown me that no matter the number of my compelling ideas regarding fembots, I lack certain crucial qualities as a writer. Perhaps I should hire one of you to write for me - especially if your tastes at all lean toward the Stepford-style.

Stepford deserves better writing than I can deliver. Stepford deserves several stories, set in a coherent, recognizable story-world; ones which can be simplified down for scripts for custom videos. I'm experimenting with dictation on my Mac, to capture more of my fleeting thoughts - and I'm liking the creative results. Once I've selected and pursued the outline of a story as far as I can take it, I could give that material to a co-writer(s), to hammer into something worth sharing. Then we would fine-tune that draft, maximizing the Stepford qualities.

One note about the tone. The original film showed the chase, the drama, the tension and the terror which Joanna went through. My Stepford automates women as soon as or before they enter the community, without any opportunity for their fear or awareness. Drama of many kinds is important, but once a wife has been made into a mindless machine, there is no longer any subjective person remaining who will suffer by the games played with her. Like a vampire transforming and dominating his mindless bride, the true Stepford is romantically and morally demented, but not sadistic, to their fembot thralls.

Of course, a Stepford wife's memories and identity can always be reset to her pre-conversion personality. This allows her owner to enjoy experiencing endless scenarios of her origin story (whether she is programmed to believe: she volunteered, or succumbed to a nanobot epidemic, or had a more conventional Stepford experience of conspiracy and chase likes Joanna did). Stepford is a "canned hunt", in that everything is reliably under control at all times. That way, many fun scenarios relying on the drama of an unsuspecting victim (played by a sleeper) may be safely enjoyed without any cruelty.

Westworld, without the West. The pedestrian appearance of suburbia and small towns, masking a dark, erotic world of sleeper-games beneath. Stepford needs chroniclers.
