The V.I.C.I. Diaries: Detours and Diversions (not a story)

Post by DukeNukem 2417 » Mon Feb 24, 2014 2:27 pm

Ever try to drive and shave at the same time?

I haven't.....saw someone on the highway doing it, but I'm not stupid enough to try it myself, obviously.

I HAVE, however, been stupid enough to try and undertake multiple "side projects" on the road to the latest VICI Diaries story, "Mr. Roboto". Chief among them was an ill-fated attempt at installing Ubuntu 9.10 on my old computer---the same computer whose crash, three years ago, nearly killed the Diaries before they ever truly began.

To put a long, sordid story in layman's terms, the Ubuntu Saga was an utter failure.

Don't take that to mean that I've been slacking off writing entirely, though. WilloWisp's posting of "Making and Taking Revenge", the latest (so far) part of "Virus Alert", spurred me to start on "Mr. Roboto" in the first place---and call it friendly competition or whatever, but part of me just wants to get the Season Two opening two-parter of the Diaries finished before he posts his next masterpiece. And again, don't take that claim to mean that I'm going for quantity over quality---"Roboto", I think, will be the best story I've written so far. Both Dollspace and TW have offered advice on it, and the board as a whole will get to see the finished product this Thursday.

As always, expect greatness. 8)

P.S.: I'd like to take this opportunity to dedicate The V.I.C.I. Diaries: "Mr. Roboto" to Harold Ramis, who died this morning from complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis (don't ask me how to pronounce that). Ramis was best known for his role as Egon Spengler in the "Ghostbusters" films, as well as directing classics like "Stripes" and "Caddyshack"; he will be missed greatly.

Domo Arrigato, Mr. Ramis. :notworthy:
Elvis Lives. Not in this timeline, but in quite a few others.
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been.

Linux on a partly broken computer? I'd say, even loading the installation system would fail.

And he was the script author of "National Lampoon's Animal House". Great guy, great life.
Do you like or dislike my ongoing story Battlemachine Ayako? Leave a comment on the story's discussion pages on the wiki or in that thread. Thank you!

He will always be remembered. I offer condolences to his friends and family. :(
