You've got to hand it to Katy Perry, she's got taste...in movies anyway! The singer turned actress who provides the voice for Smurfette in the Smurfs sequel has hopes to continue her movie career with live action roles, and she's definitely not short on ambition. "With films, I hope to win you all over with animation and then do other films," Perry tells The Metro.co.uk "I am really interested in comedy, and I would really love to play Rachael in Blade Runner 2, if Ridley would just call! I think I'd enjoy playing the opposite of what you expect." Rachael was the female lead in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and was played by Sean Young. The character was a replicant, but has no knowledge of this when the story begins and is enlightened by Harrison Ford's Deckard, whom she then becomes the love interest of. We don't even know if Rachael will be a part of the planed sequel, but there is definitely a resemblance between Young and Perry -- what do you guys think?

I think she's more of an Alsatio Zevo type, but what are the chances they do a remake of Toys?

I've always thought she looked abit 'mechanical' to be honest, but she'd do a good Rachael for me :lovestruck:

That would really be interesting....she looks close enough to Sean Young (who I believed played Rachel in "Blade Runner"), but I'd like to see her in something more serious before I'd make any kind of assumptions, but part of me is really hoping she gets the part so she can show the world she's not just a pop singer, even if I do enjoy her music, and her singing voice can get on my nerves sometimes,

and therein lies the enticing mystery - how would a totally plastic persona try to [act like a replicant] ?

She'd have to invent [serious Katy Perry, actress in character]. Actbot Katy then would need to decide how to portray a mind built on false memories - a created, fake person who has become real. Sounds like a rabbit hole of funhouse mirrors, if she could ever deliver the acting right.

Sometimes, rarely, the role and the public persona/perception of the actor align. Is there are real person at the core of the nesting dolls, or has she been effaced over time. Example: anyone see Tom Cruise in Magnolia by P.T.Anderson? Amid the film's several other stories, Cruise plays a full-of-shit sexual conquest motivational speaker - and there's a lot of his unvarnished nature in those scenes. I'm not saying he's a Scientologist-sociopath, but I'm not not sayin' it, either.

I think Katy's replicant would carry herself a bit more stiffly, formally, robotically than we saw Rachael at the start - even though the character has been developing and there's nothing necessarily robotic about their behaviors. Rachel was the ideal personal secretary, which carries herself as an efficiency machine, whether the job is performed by replicant or human. Katy would overcompensate, trying to imitate and live up to Sean Young's elegance.

On a related note in European blue ray of Promethius in the bonus features there is a easter egg. Its text written by the Peter Weyland character that might link Prometheus to Blade Runner. Could be possible or fans reading to much into it. any ways here is the article.
