That's one tempting trailer!

I found this: www.hollywood.com/movies/detail/movie/418138

A little more info here although I'm sure it's referrable as the release date nears.

Just a little note, this is one of those sites that have those annoying pop-ups...God! I HATE pop-ups!

It's about time! I've been waiting over a year for this one. That new trailer reveals the 'twist' at the end. I don't like the twist, but I kinda expected it.

I'll bet that ...

I'll bet that even without seeing the trailer, this twist could only involve a gender reversal of some sort. With my luck and because of the already upsetting (to me) theme of this film it'll turn out that this guy is either an automation himself, the"fembot" kills him in the end OR she is not what she appears to be. That's about the worst I can think of for now

...oh I forgot...

Post by droidlvr » Wed Nov 19, 2003 9:33 am

...oh I forgot, the whole thing could be the result of a vivid "dream" of his which means there's no fembot, there are only male ones and after being awakened from this "dream" either by his FEMALE scientist/creator or BOSS he returns to the real/current world in which he "lives" in.

...well

Post by droidlvr » Wed Nov 19, 2003 10:02 am

...well, just was able to see this trailer and well, you know, I said it in the above post(s). Hate to get all seriously social/cultural/political but I remember a quote from somewhere where it was said that for some guy to want to have a fembot it'll just be unAmerican. This film according to the trailer 'turns my stomach' and the more I hear about this updated version of Stepford with it's description as a rather "dark comedy" I can now expect something similar.

Well I'm looking forward to this film.
And on a side note, is it just me or did one of the characters look like Marilyn Manson?

By all means...

Post by droidlvr » Wed Nov 19, 2003 12:58 pm

By all means see the film,I only hope that when the film reviews starts flowing there will be an accurate description of what's in it. This can only help many here to decide if it's intresting or not. I of course am speaking for myself in that to see a film that has such fiminazi tones is anything but worth my sitting through. Some here may have problems with the premise of the original Steppford as being crule to females I have problems with seeing what to me seems to be a mindf*** on film.

Oh, I doubt it's going to be that complex - I just expect the guy finds the real woman his robot was based on and falls for her instead, or something like that.

I would be very, very surprised if it wasn't packed with salacious softcore robotgirl stuff...

The Required Plot Twist

Post by Svengli » Wed Nov 26, 2003 12:40 am

Hmm,

Just looking at the trailer for the "The Perfect Lover" a couple of times, you get the strong impression that the required "PC" twist is that the guy is actually a designed humanoid - possibly created for the benefit of his android creator rather than vice-versa.

That doesn't seem too bad at all.

Looking for forward to the release. That main problem is that I don't own DVD player. I suppose I'll have to adjust.

You know, the plot in this movie reminds me of a paperback I read last year.
www.richardevansonline.com
Check out 'extracts'.

Someone posted a link in either 'Reports' or 'Stories' around September-ish of last year where you could read nearly everything page by page. I highly doubt it's still accessible now though.

The storyline is very similar and there is a 'twist' as well.

The last time I checked, you could no longer read the entire book on the web.

If you are thinking about purchasing this book I would save your money.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it about a 5.

It's not that well writen and the plot twist at the end is prety hard to believe.

Some of the authors on this board could have done a better job.

Looks Neat!

Post by SNJ-14 » Tue Jan 27, 2004 9:11 pm

Not entirely sure what droidlvr's problem is.

Looks potentially good. In addition to the, well, porn value, as it were, I see a liklihood that it might have some real (gasp) substance.
