New animation - The Prototypists

Post by fection » Sun Nov 20, 2011 9:22 am

Hello there.
I have finally managed to finish a new animation; YouTube is working its processing magic on it as we speak. People may well not care that I took so long, but my apologies to those to whom I had said, several times, the finished product was 'about a month away'. I ended up deciding to work on it as I pleased, and as it turned out that was not very often at all.
Feel free to let me know what you think of it. Here's the the direct link...

I've seen it. What can I say. A delightful mixture of robot malfunctions and humorous stuff. Like, totally perfect, with the "3 or 4 donuts" part, and BOOM! Love it when the Reboot button goes SPROING.

I look forward to your NEXT totally perfect animation.

Sorry... the lines that Loretta and Dolores say were not only stimulating, but very LOL ha-ha funny! XD

That was truly "two in one!" :D

By the way, I was always wanted to know about the another actor who acts man's voice.

Well, I'm saying that I want to know no more than if he's real, though

Yeah, I'm curious. I'm also surprised that I may have recognized the actress who played Julie.

MisterXYZ, I would be surprised if you recognised the actress who played Julie, too!
And yes, 'Mr Jenkins' is non-computer generated. To quote Ben Kenobi: 'Of course I know him - he's me!'

I guess so. Her voice reminded me from "A Thoughtless Vendetta", your last amazing cartoon (webtoon), plus from a video with Evangeline Winter... I think.
Is it or no? Of course, I think yes.

Well worth the wait, Fection! Flawless production as usual!!! But if I had a pair of robosecretaries, I'd give them just a tiny bit more computing power!

Thanks for making my day!

I recognized the voices of both Julie and Mr. Jenkins immediately from "A Thoughtless Vendetta". I thought it was obvious. Hilarious to know that's you doing Mr. Jenkins, though. That voice puts a smile on my face every time I hear it. I take it that's your girlfriend/wife as Julie?

But anyway, moving on from the voice acting.... This is well beyond my expectations, as usual. I love your style of malfunction; air-headed, brainless valley-girls make great robots, since they can be made to have a complete meltdown for the most random reasons. Their fates are sealed by their own stupidity, and that alone is both captivating and erotic.

It's a shame animations like these are difficult to produce. I love a well-written story as much as the next person, but being able to see and hear the scene play out takes it to a whole new level. I've watched "Candybot007" countless times, and between Candybot's stilted movements, her computer-generated voice, her increasingly hollow claims of being "totally perfect", my own imagination of what's going on in her dumb bimbot mind, the spectacular symptoms of her horrible malfunction, and so many other fun little features, it always feels fresh and exciting. I can tell I'm going to be frequently coming back to "The Prototypists" as well, and I bet that in a year from now I still won't have managed to fully appreciate everything this beautiful little video has to offer. Thanks for this, Fection.

Personally, I think I'd like a robot secretary that was more like Julie than the "prototypists," she's got spunk. But that's just me :p

I've waited until now to comment, in order to really let this sink in. As such, let me start off with a hearty BRAVO!!! Well Done, Indeed!

I've been a fan since the "Coffee Break" and "Candybot 2000" animations from days of yore, as well as the written works over on the LTBSA. I have to agree that you pretty much set the bar for "ditz-function" {I claim phrase-coinage rights!}, Fection. But you also tell engaging stories as well, which makes said "ditz-functions" that much more enjoyable. I also dig the way you've changed up the animation style, with this latest one being cruder and choppy in a neo-anime sort of way. It fits the girl's ditz-functions quite well, IMHO. And kudos for the homage to Hitch and Orson via your voice work; no reason at all an artiste can't get in on the fun themselves, eh? Not that I would have any personal knowledge {ahem!}.........

Keep up the excellent work, Old Boy!! You'll never have to worry about a hatchet-job from this Reviewer Emeritus....... unless you decide to animate The Stepford Wives 2004.......... :surprise: :nothanks:
Assemble the ladies? I didn't know that they were broken......

I agree. The animation looks 2D and choppy. And I love it! It reminds me of somewhat of a webtoon I once saw on a site that is gone now.

A very nice animation; I haven't seen many of those round these parts and it was interesting to see. I liked it.
