I'm a quiet member here.
Been around the ASFR community since the old ASFR.net was was still up and still running, we're talking a LONG time. Back then it was all fun, not much content but fun.
Made the transition to FC and it was even more fun.
Now though...things have...changed?
Almost every week in the forums im seeing "buy this!" or "buy my latest clipshare!" or "buy my latest DVD!" or "buy my latest *insert content here*!".
Let me direct you to a site which kind of covers the ASFR fetish (albeit very slightly)... 4f-creations.com
His work blows almost every other manippers work here out of the water...he's charging under $30 for HALF A YEARS membership and all of his work is top notch. If your gonna post on this forum trying to suck money from the ASFR fans, take a look at his site, and remember, hes basically charging $60 for an ENTIRE year...
...im getting sick of the creeping commercialization thats slowly creeping into this community, ya want folks to buy your vids, see your pics, watch your clipshare? Fine...but get a perspective on the prices you set first, and remember, there are a lot of ther manippers and video makers TEN times better out there on the net posting their stuff for free.

I disagree. I'm happy to see the content posted. As long as it's on topic I think it belongs here. If something looks interesting to me I'll buy it. If it doesn't, I won't. I've paid for some pretty bad content over the years but I let my wallet do the talking, if it's bad I won't pay for anything else from that provider.
The recommendation of 4f is a great example. That guy does amazing work over there and he's been around pretty close to as long as we have. I wouldn't pay the $60 a year though. Not that it isn't a great deal, it is. I'm just not a big fan of manipulations.
As it's been said a million times on this board, there are probably as many variations on this theme as there are members and limiting the options of members seems ridiculous. It's a pretty easy decision, don't like something, don't buy it and if the post bothers you then don't read it.
The more options the better I think. Someone is bound to nail something that most of us enjoy at some point.
However the idea of a commercial section is a great idea, a place to find purchasable content in one area would come in handy.

I agree with this, too. For awhile, it was just one or two things every so often; now it seems there's a new one almost every day. This is actually a good thing (competition can lead to better products), but it would be a good idea now to let it have its own forum, at least on a trial basis.Sthurmovik wrote:Here here. I would support a policy against site owners promoting their own for-pay sites here as well as announcements for site updates and such at pay sites.
At the very least commercial content should be put in its own forum category.

A separate section for pay content is a wonderful idea, and actually may create more business for those who post.......with everything in one space, those who are looking can find what's good, better, or BEST for them AAAAAND in the long run, they may find new 'FAVORITE" manippers etc... When folks place their "ads" in various sections on the boards here, they may miss potential clients. I for one, don't read every section available here, so I know that I may have missed some cool things. A separate section for creator's sites is a GREAT idea! --minkwheel

I suppose it's a good sign that some people are almost complaining that there is TOO MUCH content being made for us.
But seriously, it isn't really all that much.
As far as a seperate commercial site section, I have always assumed that the "updates" section was where sites, including the pay sites, could provide update info. It even says so in the description. Maybe give the active sites sticky topics to keep them prominent, like the Youtube finds topic?

Response to Barbarella
Hi all. As one of the offenders that Barbarella discussed above (and also a fellow 'old timer' from RobotDoll's ASFR.com site) I thought I might take a moment and say a few words on behalf of all creators out there who dare ask for payment in return for goods or services - i.e. good old fashioned capitalism.
I would venture to say that the vast majority of us don't put a price on our content because we are looking to get filthy rich or make a dishonest buck off of the common man's hard-working back. We do it out of necessity as much as anything else. Last time I checked, and I check fairly often, the world isn't free. Things cost money. Software costs money. Equipment costs money. Bandwidth costs money. Storage costs money. Hell, perhaps most importantly, TIME can cost money. We charge for our products so we don't go broke doing what we love to do. At least that's how I operate. If we can make a little spending money on the side, that's a bonus, but I don't think that there are more than a tiny handful of ASFR or MC producers out there who can make a real living doing what they do. I don't mind chipping in some freebies on occasion to contribute to the community, but I sure as hell am not going to go belly up doing it ALL for free. I love you guys, but I don't love you THAT much.
I do agree 100% that there should be a separate forum for posting 'commercial' content, and I'm glad to see that it has been created. I will certainly utilize it from now on to promote my latest wares, and I thank the administrators of this board for allowing me and my fellow creators to spread the word about our work in this fine establishment.
As for Rick from 4F... the man is a genius. His images are extremely sexy and he is an incredibly skilled and talented maniper. He is also incredibly lucky. 99% of those images that he uses as the basis for his manips are copyrighted in some form or another. Perhaps he flies far enough under the radar not to catch the attention of the original owners of those images, or maybe he has in fact received permission to use them. If so, more power to him, and hooray for the rest of us that we continue to get to see his fine work on display.
Thanks for listening,
