Ok, before you think ButchyBoy has just lost it, here's the real true-life scoop;
My niece and nephew are in their first year of High School in 06,and they've just spent the entire month of August so far in the 6-day a week band camp......
......waits for it........
(And this one time, at Band Camp......)
Ok, it that out of everybody's system now? Good, I can continue then.
So this past Wednesday was a potluck BBQ in the school gym for family and friends, to show off how far the band has come in less than a month, and to present the year ahead. And this band should be very very good by the time they perform in the Rose Parade on Jan 1, 2007....Riverside Kingsmen is the name of the band btw.
Anyway.......after the food is procured, by almost everyone, the "show" for the familes' benifit is underway and the drill tream is the first out. They are dressed in reheasal clothing with one glaring exception.....they all have wind-up keys taped to their backs!!! So now my attention is gotten, and the drill team instructor takes the mike and says in order to demo the moves and drills the team has learned so far, this routine was thrown together........ROBOTS COME TO LIFE!!!!!
They line up in rown and start slumped over in chairs....they became activated in time to the music (which i'm pretty sure was off the "Robots" soundtrack), they come to life row by row, moving very stiffly. Their movments get more fluid and natural as the routine progresses. Realy nice teamwork too. And then the best part........something "goes wrong". A few at a time, they malfunction, bang into each other, and short-circuit, dropping their flags, breaking down, and shutting down row by row!

I clapped, but not as hard as I wanted to (I was with family fter all and...I'm sure you get the idea). I kept kicking myself afterward that I didn't have a camer of ANY kind with me. Then I rememberd after I got home last night, that the routine was taped by a member of the school staff. So who knows.
And i'll never be able to look at this drill team the same way again.
There's my report
