I saw quite a few episodes way back in the late 60s and don't recall any bots. the show ran on the first UHF station in my area and I clearly remember my parents putting up a special antenna on the roof so we could all watch Ultraman and Speed racer :)

Later incarnations have single episodes with an occaisional android girl.
I've only seen one, and the only way she showed any signs of being an android is by not smiling, and then the SFX guys used a mannequin for her when she got "killed" or something like that.

Ultraman is kinda like Star Trek, except there have been like 20 TV incarnations instead of just 5.

According to the Robo-musume site (our Japanese sister site) there are about 6 cases in the entire Ultraman pantheon. I haven't been able to find most of them in even the biggest video rental stores, probably have to actually BUY the whole series, at Japanese prices... NO WAY!

The best Ultraman case is the second most recent incarnation "Ultraman Max" where a main character "Android Eri (Elly)" actually acts like a gynoid with whirring motors when she walks and goes through the whole learning-to-have-emotions bit through the series. Clips are available.
