Android Apocalypse

Post by DollSpace » Sun Jun 11, 2006 2:52 am

Coming to the SciFi Channel on 24 June, "Android Apocalypse"! lol

It looks like it focuses on two male androids, but from the adverts I believe I did see some sort of female androids, so it may be worth checking, or even watching :) Just passing on the info!

Cheers,
Rika

After viewing this movie, It looks like the Scifi channel has served us up yet another hot steaming bowl of Stink O Roni.

There is one ill tempered, leather clad female android in the flick if you like that sort of thing but overall this movie has absolutley nothing to offer.

Thanks for the quick review, tectile. I completely forgot about the movie airing yesterday otherwise I would have taped it.

Ok, well, it started well enough...I admit I'm a sucker for stories where an android is sort of torn between being a machine and being human, and the main character's struggle to accept (and ultimately his acceptance of) the fact that the new generations of androids had just as much right to live as he did. It was heartening to see the main character call the android his friend. :) But that's where the good parts ended, really... It would have been so great to make the main character's wife end up being one of the new advanced androids, to show her being shut down to her husband's amazement (and could've been the catalyst for his new accepting feelings about the robots). And it was even worse that the one female android of course ended up dying, and without even a good malfunction scene! Sheesh! I swear, SciFi needs to hire me as a script consultant on all future shows and movies regarding androids... I knew when I saw the advert for it that chances were it wouldn't be very good; I just wish that I could've been proved wrong, just once...*sigh*

Cheers,
Catie

The main problem is it seems human directors are almost programmed to do stereo typical stories when iot comes Androts Gyoind stories. Even when they say it will be Different it isnt.

Yeh, I was hoping the wife would have turned out to be a bot too.
No such luck though. She was just a really bad actress.

I just dont understand what's going on with the Scifi channel original movies.
It seems they are all about giant insects or mutant bears or something equally as uninteresting.

Who are these movies suposed to apeal to?

Why not take some of the money they spend on explosions and FX and HIRE A GOOD SCRIPT WRITER!

I mean if you start with a crappy story line, you get a crappy movie no matter how much you dress it up.

I gues it's the old Hollywood thing, No one wants to stand up in a meeting and say "Hey this sucks, we need to do somethind different".

OK, enough ranting.

I thbink another problem with SciFi origiinals is most the actors and writters and directors are just starting out and using Scifi has spring board to Bigger Better things.
