Anime with android who actually _acts_ like an android

Post by PirateStoat » Sun May 28, 2006 7:36 am

Renkin San-kyuu Magical Pokaan is a cute, fairly fanservicey anime about four girls (a witch, a werewolf, a vampire and, supposedly, a frankenstien's-type-monster) who have come to the human world.

However, the 'frankenstien' type is much more accurately described as an android. And in episode 4, she has quite an excellent malfunction sequence, complete with distorted and skipping voice, opening body panels for servicing, and 'malfunction' smoke.

Thought you all would like to know.

Finally!! This sounds perfect... Is there anywhere to download this though? I'm already starting a search for fansubs and torrent files.

Edit - Correction: I'll look into this now! Starting with that malfunction scene!! ^^ If anyone's interested, GIVEmeBlood appears to be well on their way to subbing the whole series. I've found a listing of their releases at

http://www.baka-updates.com/groups.php? ... IVEmeBLood

I can't say anything about the quality yet but I'll be sure to keep up with this series.

I agree. This is a very good find. The scene was very well acted, though the subtitles for the rest of the episode were kinda sloppy. If you're looking for a good anime, then I'd recommend waiting for a better subbing group to pick this up. If you're just looking for a good robotic scene though, go with this, by all means. :) I've started collecting the rest of the episodes to see if there are any similar scenes.

I found it on Y0Utube. And if you use Opera with Y0Utube, you can get the video from the Opera cache. It's the .flv file. Then CinemaForge 2.0 to convert it to avi or whatever.

sad to say

Post by droidlvr » Tue May 30, 2006 2:03 pm

I've watched what I believe to be a number of other eps and am sad to say that episode 4 may be the only time this android "acts like an android". :( All other times she's like most android anime girlbots. :?

d(^_^d) This topic has my seal of approval. d(^_^d)

Great Idea...

Saber Marionettes has a few of those scenes.
Key the Metal Idol has a lot. (Refer to Avatar)
Ghost in the Shell SAC has a couple within the first few episodes and then around episode 16-17.
Mezzo Forte has a huge scene somewhere in the beginning.
Mezzo Danger Service Agency has 2 episodes that feature this stuff.

Speaking of which: are you aware of any locations where this may be found? I know it's not particularly new, and I'm having a hard time finding an active torrent. Even an FTP would be great!

Thanks for posting that without the spoiler tag.

Spoiler:

Of course I know Key isn't an android. The PPORs are though. For example, the Miho and Beniko double.

Didn't mean to spoil/offend

Post by droidlvr » Fri Jun 02, 2006 5:37 am

Didn't mean to spoil/offend but I seem to have a negative reaction whenever KTMI is discussed as an anime android. I don't know about most here, but I'm not a fan of the type of story where the reader or viewer is led to believe someone is an android only to find out (after what seems like 99eps later) that she isn't. :?
Hate to drag on but KTMI seems to be unique in this area. I'd rather have it the other way around. :? There's hundreds of anime girlbots out there, almost all indistinguishable from the human chracters, that's one thing, but to have a girl that finally acts like an android and not be one? :?

Yeah, I was kinda annoyed that they did that at the end (show that Key wasn't really an android), but I still relate to that show a hell of a lot and it's one of my favourite animes of all time...<3

And I'd love to see more anime gynoids who act human most of the time, but have a good number of scenes where their robotic-ness is obvious (like a malfunction, or charging, or servicing, or whatever...getting caught with your panels open or close calls with friends and/or family). Maybe all the programming with androids that are mostly indistinguishable from humans is sneaky subliminal programming so that when androids become more common it's treated like a person's race or religion: nothing to get worked up about, it's just one thing about a person and shouldn't define a person. XD

Cheers,
Rika

I know some Anime with some scene like you said:

Plawres Sanshiro (about Wresling Robots and in some episode are some female robots)

Android Ana Maico 2010 (have some scene but the story is in my opinion boring)

Cyborg 2 (is a real-movie with angelina jolie)

Battle Angel Alita (okay she isn't a robot or android but at least a cyborg) and hav a lot of mechanic-scene

Saber Marionettes R (have more scence than the others)
Saber Marionettes J
Saber Marionettes J to X (in some episodes are some scene)

Cat Girl Nuku Nuku (In the very frist Manga/Comic Chapter is the "creating scene" in the TV serie there arn't scene)

Cat Girl Nuku Nuku DASH ( Episode two or three is an android-battle-scene)

Galaxy Railways ( has a female character who is an Android called Yuki and in Episode "1X" or so, I don't remember which episode it was, is a scene where she is going to rust)

Xenosaga I, II, III (is a RPG and Has a Female Battle Android called Kos-Mos) the third part is the best and newest part but isn't out yet.

Cyborg 009 (I have no information about it , because i never saw it)

Galaxy Fraulein Yuna (have some robot-characters, but i never saw it too)

Ghost in The Shell (Complicated and boring Story in my opinion, but there are some good scene)

IF someone know more Animes or Games please tell me about it !

Only reason I mentioned KTMI was because it had a huge malfunction scene on the 2nd DVD... forgot which ep(10 or 11), but it was during some sort of concert performance.

and that the series also includes a extensive scene of gynoid fondling.

Azusa will Help is another title. She is always running out of batteries.

Android Ana Maico has a few scenes within the first episode and she is portrayed less human like then in most gynoid related animes. *This is one of the animes where the gynoid learns to be human.*

My Dear Marie has a good scene in the first episode. *Basically that's it*

Imma Youjo has a good scene at the beginning.

I believe it was the second episode. It's called Temptations of the Flesh or something close to that.

Too fast? The last 2 episodes were 90 minutes in length... each. How was that too fast?
