Where's Gynoid Gallery?

Post by Windupdolluver » Wed Mar 08, 2006 6:21 am

Hey noid!

I went to the gynoid.com site for the Gynoid Gallery.....and it's not there! I also saw the message you left about buying that site....WHAT'S GOING ON? WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THIS SITE?

Yah, the domain name of gynoid.com is for sale. I'm not sure anybody will want it, but there it is. The Gynoid Gallery - which has gone untouched for quite a while now - is still available at gynoid.dreamhost.com. Since the gallery is on the subdomain I didn't see much need for the original domain. Times are tough. Cutbacks and layoffs, y'know. :(

None of this affects Fembot Central.

Thank goodness it doesn't affect FC, because I remember when the Gynoid Gallery was like a dream come true (one of my first real forays on-line in search of ASFR material). Now, it's just sort of a quaint, but nonetheless enjoyable, walk down memory lane. Thanks to FC for expanding my horizons!

the good ol' days

Post by Doctor Robo » Wed Mar 08, 2006 1:57 pm

It's a shame that a lot of the websites/domain names from the "good ol' days" are no longer in operation. I'm talking about ASFR.com, the Female Android Cornucopia, Gynoid.com, James ML's mannequin site... I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting.

Wow!

Dr.Robo bringing back the 'Classics'! I too remeber when I first got into the ASFR Nation that one of the first sites I ran across was Robotdoll's ASFR.com site, as well as FAC. Man...I would be great to have like a reunion tour, or reunion site for people to share those 'Old School' items.

...but I guy can dream, can't he. And thanks for the redirect info ayreon!

Can't all the original content from the Gynoid Gallery be moved over to Fembotcentral?

I always hold out hope that the content from the FAC might show up again either here or somewhere!

wayback machine

Post by Doctor Robo » Thu Mar 09, 2006 2:56 pm

I tried the wayback machine for ASFR.com but all I got were domain name placeholder pages. Anyone else give it a try?

Going even further back, before forums like this were really up and running, the only forum we had was on the alt.sex.fetish.robots newsgroup. I remember downloading binaries from that group on a 2400 kB modem. It would take 20 minutes to get a pic that takes seconds today via broadband. We had a big debate on whether we should establish a binaries group since there was a fear that too many binaries in the ASFR group would result in it being shut down. I really enjoyed RobotDoll's stories and his work to define this fetish. I also really appreciated the wonderful work of Jonathan Livingston Seagull (JLS). RD was the first to get a website up and running, shortly followed by JamesML and RoboLover. I never did much myself to add to the scene other than vidcap what I could and upload to the ASFR newsgroup. I apologize if I'm leaving any other ASFR pioneers out here, but my recall is only so good. Hope others can fill in the blanks.

When the FAC was shutdown for a move and started back up, a drive died. The one with all the web content.....

JLS?!

Post by hypero2 » Mon Mar 13, 2006 4:51 pm

WOW... now that's a blast from the past. Has anyone heard from him or know what happened to him? I'd place his work second only to Href and Xeran (who also seem to have disappeared!)

HYPER!!
