2007 - Year of the Gynoid

Post by ButchyBoy » Thu Dec 08, 2005 12:15 am

First, the Westworld remake is officially ON! Warner Brothers has set a summer 2007 release date (very much subject to change of course). No cast yet, but the studio has singed Tarsem Singh to direct. He's probably best known for R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" video.

Then, there is James Cameron's plan to turn "Battle Angel" into a live-action epic. It seems he's is casting the lead via an on-line ad.....anyone come across it?

But wait....there's more! New Line Cinema has a comedy in it's pipeline called "Jenbot". Apperently, some sort of "Robo-Cop" spoof.

Hopefully, movies to look forward to as time goes by.

Here is some more info regarding Battle Angel from my local paper.

Cameron seeks agile actress for Titanic followup

James Cameron is moving forward on his long-awaited followup to 1997's Titanic, with a casting call going out for an agile young actress to star in his sci-fi thriller Battle Angel.

The project is in development at 20th Century Fox, which declined comment. But Mali Finn Casting has placed an online ad seeking women aged 16 to mid-20s who are athletic and agile with graceful movement and have an ear for languages and dialects. Submissions are due Dec. 19, the firm said.

Battle Angel is described as a big-budget adaptation of a 12-part Japanese manga series set in the 26th century that centres on 14-year-old female cyborg named Alita. Production is scheduled to begin in February.

Cameron has said he is planning to direct two movies using a virtual-reality production process he refined and developed with visual effects cameraman and second unit director Rob Legato. The process is based on a photo-real version of the performance-capture technology used by filmmaker Robert Zemeckis in The Polar Express.

14 year old Alita?!?!?!

I thought she was closer to like mid 20s by appearances, of course her brain was in hibernation for a long time in the scrapyard too, so she could be hundreds (there's a reference somewhere to her age, but I can't remember it).

Maybe it's a misprint...

14? Wow that's old for a cyborg considering how much mobile phones and computers I had the last 14 years

Suspect the whole cyborg transformation bit will be done by Computer Graphics but even that will be better than nothing, especially for a transformation lover like myself. Will certainly be interested to see how the transformation is carried out.
Well if they want a volunteer to try any of the process out for real............!
I'm just a 'girl' who wants to become a fembot whats wrong with that?
