The movie isn't quite finished yet. It is still in post production as far as I know. Hopefully people here will find some things they enjoy about it. But if you do manage to get your hands on a copy keep in my mind that it was shot by a first time director (who did an awesome job by the way) and was based off of something that myself and two of my friends were kicking around while working on a corporate video shoot one day. The title for this production actually started out as HoBots and was going to be a bit of a wacky comedy. And trust me when I say this movie was a long time coming. For a short film this thing took forever and changed many many times over the course of a couple of years.

So as I said if you do manage to get a copy keep those things in mind. Alot of people contributed a lot of things to this movie and noone got paid a dime. So try not to be too critical please. Also when you get to the end and you see the infant, that's my son making his acting debut hehe.

Oh yes, and I was going to bring this to everyone's attention when it was completed, but it looks like some people were doing some digging hehe. I will also talk with the director the next time I see her and see if I can't get permission to post some clips or possibly the film in its entirety on the ftp when it comes back up.

Could you possibly give us a rundown of the scenes of particular interest to us? Malfunction, startup/shutdown, repair, open panels, that sort of thing? Sort of the Cliff's Notes version.

Also, what kind of distribution is being done? Is it strictly a "for love of art" project, as in "not for sale"? Looks like someone connected to it had some pretty heavy money to throw around, or knew someone who could get hold of used SFX props.

This was done on a shoestring budget so there wasn't a lot of money for special effects and things but there were a lot of amateur film makers involved with this project with a lot of experience so they really did make the most of what was available. Many of the people involved (myself included) work for the same production company and used alot of equipment from there.

As far as distribution goes this one falls into the "love of the art" project. As far as I know it's not going out for sale to the general public. It was more of a project that the cast and crew could add to their reels more than anything. I am not as involved in the finished product as I was at the outset of the project. While we were writing it and hashing out different scenarios my wife gave birth to our second child and my availability to be involved with this project became severely limited.

Because of that I really couldn't tell you scene for scene what happens as I was only on set for 2 days of actual filming and I haven't seen any of the edited work yet. However if they stuck close to the final copy of the screenplay there should be a little bit of everything you mentioned.

So the director is a woman? For me at least that's one of the most fascinating things of all about the movie ... makes me very curious to see it. I would love to see a female director's interpretation of ASFR and also to understand what interested her in the project in the first place.

Congrats KJ (on the movie and the family stuff) and we look forward to seeing it ... having read so many of your posts over the years, I feel confident that if you had a hand in the story, I'm probably going to love it.

will provide sides from the script at the audition. Contact for
further information- snagbuddy@...

We will be casting the following roles:
Eve: 20's. Lead character. A Syn different from the rest who
transforms and becomes half human. Needs to be a strong actress
comfortable with a brief nude scene and fairly athletic.

Dr. Deacon: Lead character. 20+ Quirky genius who enjoys watching
old episodes of Star Trek and invented Syns. Grew up with
controlling, psycho mother.

Cline: 30+ Pimp, entertainer personality and sinister to the
core. Think of a smarmy, washed up clown.

Jones: 30+ A scraggly man that smells of cat piss and alcohol. He
needs to feel in control of something because he has no control over
himself, his temper, his drinking, etc…Extremely abusive.

Roy: 20+ Desperate, hungry for friendship, hungry for sex, and
hungry for food. He's a bit naïve and awkward looking.

Harry: 20+ Sleazy. Enjoys bossing people around. He and Roy are
friends that look like old-fashioned hobos. Think ruffians from
urban Victorian England.

Squat: Large, intimidating and strong - a bear-like man. Loyal,
but not the brightest bulb.

Frank: A little person with a kind face but a sneaky and corrupt
personality. He lies easily and only cares about himself, money and
Squat (even though he doesn't show it) simply because Squat's been
so loyal to him.

Mother: 35+ Smothering, controlling and manipulative, but can
appear very sweet. She wanted her son Deacon to be the best but was
constantly disappointed in him for not doing as much as she thought
he could.

General Vehl: 30+ Chauvanist, large, generally good natured and
bad mannered. He's a local crime boss obsessed with old military
leaders.

Billie: Eve's closest friend but still a Syn with no real desire to
better herself. She's perky and cute. Likes Eve because she finds
her amusing and thinks Eve needs her help.

Raquel: General Vehl's woman. A transvestite who wears heavy
makeup, smokes like a chimney and dresses like a 50's swinger.

Cristina: A syn dressed like a slutty 80's punk chic.

Vicki: Larger voluptuous Syn wearing frilly pink lingerie.

Rosalie: Beautiful black Syn dressed in see-through clothing.

Sophie: Thin, sexy French maid Syn.

Sam: 20's to 30's Regular guy who hosts a party.

Guy #1: 20's to 30's male slightly intoxicated telling a funny story
at a party.

Guy #2: 20's to 30's male talking at party.

News anchor: Male. Any age or ethnicity.

I hadn't come across this thread back in June, so I went to the link posted at the very beginning and am afraid that it's down. Not a very good sign, I suppose.

I had included this movie as item #40 on my Fembot Film & TV : Supplementary Items for Master List topic. There is not much on this movie but i did provide a link to photos of an android named Billie played by Elizabeth Tanner. These photos can be found at the following website :

I;ve tried to open the 'photos' page and all I get is the page not found error dialog. But the brief synopsis does sound good but how many times have we heard that before round here?
