Mythbusters fembot

Don't know how many of you watch this show on the Discovery channel. Tonight had an episode busting Hollywood myths, including one about the the original actor cast as the Tin Man (Buddy Ebsen) in the Wizard of Oz, getting sick from the aluminium paint on his skin.

Long story short, one of the girl Mythbusters agrees to get painted up head to toe to see what would happen. There are a few android/robot comments made and at one point she even does some mechanical movements. Nothing spectacular, and not really my cup of tea, but some of you might find it interesting none the less.

Don't know when it airs again, although it should rerun again tonight at 12:00 eastern.

Many thanks for the heads up. I was able to catch the rerun you mentioned and sure enough, there was a redhead in a silver bikini and silver body paint on national TV. They should've kept her like that for the whole episode....

Okay, found some time to dig a little deeper. The episode in question is called "Hollywood on Trial" and will air several more times this month starting with this Sunday, May 15 3:00 PM eastern. Just in case anyone's interested.

Again, bringing this up because there is already a Mythbusters ASFR topic...

In an episode on the concept of Primary Perception, where Grant Imahara and Tory Vilechi (spelling corrections welcomed) are testing the idea that all living things like plants have natural ESP and emotions and thus the plants can read minds and some such junk.

Anyway, to do the test as it was originaly done in the sixties, Tory and Grant used a polygraph machine. And to make sure it worked, they subjected each other to tests.

One of the questions Grant was asked was "Have you or do you want to ever build a female robot". Grant naturally said no, but the polygraph said something else.

Hmmmmmm.... :P
