Found a couple of semi-obscure fembots

Post by PirateStoat » Sun Aug 29, 2004 5:03 pm

Viz manga (US publisher of Japanese comics) has been releasing "Excel Saga" for a while. There are two gynoids in the story, Ropponmatsu I and Ropponmatsu II. Really two alternate bodies for the same memoryset/program, though, so only one is active at a time. Now, in the latest volume, volume 8, one of Ropponmatsu's teammates dies. So their employer opts to save his life by making him a cyborg. Since they don't have a male body built just yet, he is temporarily housed in the Ropponmatsu I body.

Insane genius Japanese movie director Takashi Miike made a trilogy of movies called "Dead or Alive". The third one, "Dead or Alive: Final" contains a fairly spectacular gynoid malfuction scene.

You can see Ropponmatsu in action in episode 15 of the EXCEL SAGA anime ....AND one or two other later episodes as a younger, more giddy CAT GIRL version, because the scientist who created her has an unhealthy obsession with younger girls......--minkwheel

Just curious, how did the malfunction happen in Dead or Alive: Final? And if it's possible, could you put up screencaps? Thanks.

Husband comes home from work and his wife has a strange smile on her face. She then flips herself backward off the stairway and lands with a thud. She gets to her feet again by contorting herself into a bizarre position. Then she stands still, hiking up her dress a little, still with that strange smile on her face. You see that a blue fluid is leaking from her, running down her leg and forming a puddle on the floor. An electric glow surrounds her and she sparks a few times.

The movie cuts away and when it returns the husband has placed the wife on a bed. She lays there twitching erratically and sparking. He reaches up under clothing and presses something that shuts her down. The sound effects stop and she quits moving.

There were some vidcaps posted on a Yahoo club once. Maybe they are still there. I also made a set myself and might post them on gynoid.com later tonight.

Gee,that sounds like something I must see for myself. And the fact that it's a Japanese film makes it more of a must-see for me.
Thanks Noid, hope to see those vidcaps. :)

Hmmm

Post by Repairman Jack » Mon Aug 30, 2004 8:48 pm

Never saw this movie or even heard of it. Just curious, what makes the poor 'ol girl break down? Is that explained?

Also, Is it inferred that she gets repaired, unlike in American movies where the broken 'droid is generally simply discarded as in Cherry 2000, Chalmers in SpaceHunter etc?

Nope, no explanation for the breakdown. Hubby turns her off and that's the end of it. Turns out he is also a robot, and so is his kid.
