Anymore gynoid stories?

Post by Brytestar » Sat Jun 19, 2004 12:24 am

I keep trying to write a story but they seem to fizzle out.

I'm sure a story of a bodyguard gynoid that can love is out there somewhere.

Is anyone posting anymore stories soon? :(

What idea? The fembot who gets taken in to be recycled, but her battery has to be totally drained empty first? That as far as it goes. All I got, so please please you, BA, whoever is first, you have my permission....run with it 8)

As for me, I'm just about ready to start rolling out the bulk of "Warlord", and I also have an adventure with a new fembot in the works set in a mall.

maybe I should write out a couple ideas or base characters that the writers can alter. I like writing profiles. I got an idea maybe a profile character page or something in which people can write profiles good idea huh?

Couldn't hurt. But for me, at least, what stops me from writing more is not any lack of basic ideas, but rather the fact that taking a good idea and actually working out all the necessary details to make it a real STORY is hard work.

For example: I've got a story idea that goes kind of like this: "A single guy dies in an accident or some such, and his family comes to his home to deal with his belongings. Unfortunately, one of his belongings his his android, who's programmed to protect his place from intruders. She doesn't know the family, so she thinks they're intruders. They don't know much about androids, so they don't know how to deactivate her, let alone reprogram her to understand that the guy is dead and she should consider herself owned by his heirs."

Good idea, there, right - it's pretty unique, it's got potential, could get funny or sexy or philosophical, depending. But when I go to write it, I've got to think of all kinds of things before I even begin - what's the guy's name? What's the android's name? What's his home like? What is the android programmed to do when intruders come in? How would a normal person, emotional from grief, deal with that?" And that's just the beginning. Somewhere along the line you have to figure out, "Okay, where does the story go? How will it end? How will I build to that ending?" And every question ultimately has to get down to the level of "Exactly what words does the character speak, and exactly what does he/she do?" THAT is the hard part. When you're in the swing of things, it's also the fun part - but that doesn't make it any less hard to get going.

Other writers - do you find the same to be true of you?

I know when I write a story, I clear all my head and just let the juice flow naturally. If I think of too many details, my main focus get's lost.
Also, try visualling it in your head like watching a movie.

I know many likes every details possible, but me, not really. What's important is the flow of it. That is why it's very hard to "get back into it" in a story I did only some parts and go back to it a few days later.

When I start a story, I try to finish it the quickess as possible (sadly, it sometimes do affect the endings that they look rushed sometimes) so I still the same feel to it.

Do names, small character details, locations, do really affect the story altogether? Me, not really... It does play a part of it, of course, but I know when I see a story that as ssssssoooooo many details in it, I quickly scroll at the end of it to see what was the twist at the end.

My attention span is not much when it comes to stories here, but when the story as a good flow to it, I do read every word of it.for real.

Don't complicate things that don't need to be complicated...

That is my opinion and a rule to my life.
