I also put this in Discussion - not sure where I think it should stay cos I don't want the discussion just here regarding stories, but I am very curious about the general mindset of the authors who have posted so many great stories here, so...
In this fantasy world we've created, in your own universe, or in the real universe if you want to, take a guess: how do you compute the price (and even availability) of gynoids in that world? What does that price get you? In other words, how realistic are they? And are the models marketed to the public the same ones available to the government and/or military?
Please discuss...

Re: Gynoid Cost
Interesting question that doesn't get discussed enough. In the universe I'm slowly adding too, the company creating these gynoids would specialise in high-end fembots. So physically realistic as possible, with a well coded personality and a lot of advancements which would cost a small fortune. And they're all companions also, so nothing military grade or emergency services level, but definitely not fragile either.
At the start, I'd say Maxine for example would cost around 300k, probably dropping to 200k later on once her successor becomes available. And she's the top of the line, so models under her would be closer to 200k as a baseline.

Re: Gynoid Cost
Well, in the universe Duke and I share, things are somewhat different.
Although our gynoids are "hiding in plain sight" {the general population unaware of their existence}, the industry as a whole has actually been around since at least the late 19th century, if not before then. Ergo, all the costs for designing, engineering, manufacturing, marketing/distributing-on-the-sly, and all the rest of the "overhead" every industry deals with don't figure into the equation - our products are already well into the "production in volume lowers bottom-line cost" phase of development. Thus, one of Robo Depots' regular production models would bill out at roughly half the cost of a fairly well-optioned new car or truck, or about 15-25 thousand bucks, depending on chassis options, specialty software, etc. Of course, one-offs, or "designer special editions" would be more expensive, whilst "fleet" purchases {brothels, casinos, military/espionage, restaurants, nursing} would be that much cheaper, all else being equal.

Re: Gynoid Cost
I think that's the same universe Duke and I work on (though I have my own, too). It's fun to work with that world. I'm just wondering in general what others' thoughts on it were.Baron wrote: ↑Sun Jul 18, 2021 9:10 pm Well, in the universe Duke and I share, things are somewhat different.

Re: Gynoid Cost
I have yet to get my own Brytestar Chronicles Megaverse off the ground. The cost of an android/gynoid in any variant wasn’t something until I;d never considered until I saw the discussion. One could say it could be the cost of a vehicle within the 2015 to 2020 model year. (A low end unit) A mid-sized unit as it were the cost of a luxury vehicle. ($60k +) The high end possibility that cost of a low end mansion. ($750k or more) Although those figures are pretty much an arbitrary and mostly subject to change when my verse would eventually roll out.
Sometimes you just gotta look at the Bryte side!
