New film: Girls After Dark aka Clyde Cooper

Post by Corey Fantoccini » Tue May 21, 2019 3:33 am

A new film recently released on streaming platforms by Cinema Epoch, including Amazon Prime, will likely be of interest here.

"A private investigator is hired to track down a missing girl on the run from a mysterious Silicon Valley corporation."

https://youtu.be/GE0s0SxaSEU
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6876788/reference

The original release title was CLYDE COOPER, since most of the screen time is focused on the old-timey detective protagonist, but it's been retitled GIRLS AFTER DARK, and the new art basically gives away the huge reveal at the end.

It takes place in a vague neo-noir future L.A., and yep, the girl, as well as others Clyde meets along the way, are robots.

The Prime edition is at a slightly-above PG-13 sexual content level, so if that's your thing you'll be out of luck. Far as robotic acting and other mechanical quirks, the budget is low so no exposed panels or damages, but the performers are dedicated and very attractive, so not bad. Worth a look.

Searched for it, but, "This title is currently unavailable": "Our agreements with the content provider don’t allow purchases of this title at this time."

Grrrrr...
