Just for fun.

So you've ordered the girl of your dreams. She arrives at your door. you get her unpacked and start the activation process.
She asks you what you would like to name her.

I've always liked the name "Lisa". I can't recall ever knowing anyone named Lisa well in real life. Maybe that's why I like the name. It has no preconceptions for me like most names do.

What would you name your fembot and why?

I'd like the name Amanda for my robot (Next to Karen, Mira, and Mary). It makes it so hot... for me, at least.

I'm surprised nobody said they wanted to date a girl named "The Power" (bonus points for whoever gets that reference). ...

As for me, my fembot woudl get to choose her own name. 8)

I usually like to go with something nerdy or techie, but still cute, like Tera. However, I have honestly fantasized about many different names, from Cat/Kitty, to Jessica, to Valerie.

I'm partial to Japanese names myself, though plenty of human names strike me as being "perfect" for robots. If I had to list examples, other than my user name...

Naomi (I blame Armitage III for this)
Cassandra
Dominique
Amy/Ami
Sora
Alison
Kaori

I would name her Rebecca, as in 'Rebecca the Robot' haha. Other names I like would be Amy, Rachel, Jessica, Ashley, or Brandi

Hmmm... hard to choose one
Andrea, the Android (Sherry Jackson) from the Trek episode, "What are Little Girls Made of" complete with the sexy outfit she wore.

Gyna, the Gynoid, I just like the name
Maxine, the Sex Machine :D

One time I even came up with a coding/naming scheme, where I assigned letter values to their measurements and was able to generated a 3 letter code that I would expand out into a proper name then added a last name based on either hair or skin tone. I wonder if I still have it around here somewhere or if I will have to recreate from scratch. Yes I had too much time on my hands!

Glich, for some reason that name popped into my head.

Also couple other names that might be fun.

Doll/Dollie/Love Doll
Barbie/Barbie Doll
Joy or Joy Toy
TLC
XTC

Anne Droid
Gina Noid
Someone already suggested Roberta the Robot
how about 'Bobbi the Bot'?

I also like 'Linda' because it means 'Beauty'

I don't know if I would use this, but I can see this being used:
F!ckme, as in"Cum here, F!ckme!"
I can also see 'Hey You' being used as well.

Or you can go the Asimov route where in at least his short stories
his robots were designated with two letter identifiers or models and the names would be derived from them, mostly they were male names.

Here is what I thought up along those lines

AB - Abbie
DB - Debbie
LE - Ellie
MLE - Emily

All sorts of possiblities

I like the last two in combination with their identifiers. The progression of LE to MLE makes me think of a slight upgrade in model, different but not enough to justify a whole new naming convention. Like a luxury model of a new car, or Sega's jump from the Genesis to the Nomad. Maybe the Ellie and the Emily look like sisters only a few years apart in age, often mistaken for twins. That's what popped into my head when I read those.

And you can pretty much continue those forever...

LS - Alice
KD - Katie
TA - Tia

Or the unfortunate one who gets AU, and is actually saddled with the "Hey You" name. You'd hope that anyone in charge of her programming would come up with a standard nickname for her right quick.

Bethany, Rebecca, Tasha, Tanya, Ebony, Eve, Eva, Sasha, Bree, Miranda, Erin, Sophia

All good, connoting various degrees of sexiness for me. Which one depends on what you want out of the experience, I expect.

Because humans aren't born fully aware and usually can't even talk for at least 2 years?

If she were designed to my specifications I'd have picked a name. If she resembled some model or actress or other person I liked I'd probably use that person's name: Roberta for Roberta Pedon or Milena for Milena Velba, for example.
If she were a standard product I would probably have to get used to her before I really gave her a name. It would probably be something short or melodious.

Generally I don't like to use names because it seems intrusive and overly personal to me. I suppose this puts some people off and they take it for the opposite of respect.
I usually wait a while to name a dog to see what personality it has; the name is generally for the veterinarian to identify my dogs from others'. It actually seems intrusive to me to use a dog's name.
But I suppose a machine would be different. They aren't really persons.
