Sprial Awards 2009

Post by Nab » Sat May 01, 2010 7:23 am

Yes, it's that time of year again... the time to recognize the very best of last year's Mind Control Erotica. It is our very great pleasure to announce the start of the 2009 Spiral Awards.

The Spiral Awards are an annual event, which allow the MC community to recognize and support their favourite stories. The nomination process will be starting soon (midnight GMT on 30 April, to be precise).

So please, cast your eyes back over this list of stories (among others) and give due consideration to the stories you'd like to see rewarded. Remember, only stories that were completed in 2009 are open to nomination and you can nominate up to three stories in each category:

Any questions or thoughts can be shared here, or via email/IM:

If you want to contact us directly, the Spiral's Panel for this year is:

Darkmind 'darkmind@darkmindweb.com',
Eye 'eyeofserpent (at) yahoo (dot) com',
Nab 'nabsq001@gmail.com',
Rinky Dink 'gregg777us@yahoo.com' and
Topaz 'topaz172@aol.com'

The nomination process has now begun... and we very much need your input.

There are a number of ways you can contact us:

1) You can use the PM function on any of the Fora we frequent
2) You can mail us directly, using the email addresses above
3) You can visit the Spiral Awards website, which has a very obvious vote here button

Please bear in mind, these are your awards and, as such, they will always be as representative and inclusive as you choose to make them.

Please, take some time to consider all of last year’s eligible stories. Read or re-read them as necessary and, once you’ve satisfied yourself, tell us which ones you think are most deserving of praise.

Nominations will close at midnight (GMT) on 14 May ... after which, the top five stories in each category will go through to the final vote.

Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you ;)

Apologies for the delay in posting this, my internet connection was down. Anyway on the the results:

(An Achievement Award is also forthcoming, but hasn't made it to this announcement yet.)

Green (FD)

Battle Hookers by TheGreenGoblin

Kate uses a magic ritual to transform her friend Jenny into a sex bombshell. They take her new body out to a nightclub to see what it can do. Little do the young girls realize that actions have consequences.

Take a standard MC theme: Using magic to turn your friend into a walking sex bombshell. Now, assume they agreed to it, and haven't lost all of who they are in the transformation. Lastly, add in that they aren't the first to have this transformation worked on them.

That’s where this story starts. Where it goes is a trail of pure heat, as two walking sex goddesses battle it out, using what they do best as a battleground. The prize is the mind and the soul of the winner, and all of those around them - unless, of course, there are more surprises in store.

Red (FF)

Button Pusher by flibinite

There’s a new villainess in town, and Paragon sets out to stop her, completely unaware that she may have bitten off a bit more than she can chew, and that her opponent may have a few tricks of her own up her sleeve.

Anybody flying around in skin-tight spandex has to be into something kinky. Flibinite's Paragon is no exception. Save the city by day, then enjoy herself by night. Of course, if her new enemy can guess just exactly how and she'll enjoy herself, that too can be used against her.

Paragon always finds herself just one step further behind than she intended in this exquisitely written trap. Addiction knows every button to push, every step to take to turn the heroine into another addicted pet. It's all to easy to read through and see yourself falling into that trap, and enjoying every moment of it.

Yellow (MD)

Needles and Needs by saracastle

WPC Lane interrogates a stage magician, eager to discover what happened to a slew of missing women... perhaps someone should have warned her to be careful what you wish for?

Not so much a story as as struggle in text form, this tale of a policewoman who finds that the stage magician she suspects as behind a string of disappearances is actually behind them - but his magic isn't entirely from the stage. In fact, it's from a much more diabolic source, and it needs to be fed.

Our heroine is always just one step away from freedom, but no matter what she tries that one step is always blocked to her.

Purple (Mixed)

Mindtrap Manor by Chrystal Wynd, G-Man001, Kris P. Kreme, Limerick, Lisa Teez, mcguy101

Thirteen people wake in a dark, eerie mansion. Thirteen people with no idea where they are or how they got there. Will they escape? Will they even want to?

A simple set up for a magnificent collaboration: A group of people are dumped into a mansion, and have to escape to avoid being turned into sexual playthings for whomever dumped them there.

Turn not one, but six of the top writers in the field today loose on that premise, and you know the chances those people will get out are extremely slim. Each writer here gets to show their strengths as they tantalize the characters with the chance of escape - and the readers with their struggles.

White (MM)

Spy vs. Guy by thrall

Ladykilling superspy Brick Logan meets his match in the most unexpected of ways.

You know you don't want to admit it, but you've always envied James Bond. Gets all the girls, always gets away just in the nick of time, always manages to save the day. Well, Brick Logan isn't quite James Bond, but in his experience he does get all the girls, always gets away in the nick of time, and always manages to save the day.

Until now, that is. Trapped in a diabolical brainwashing machine, he is taken apart piece by piece before being rewritten in this story. And we get to watch every piece get taken off, step by step. The tools used to take apart this spy are myths, twisted and re-written, ever so slightly. Each in itself would be worth a story here, but they are all pulled into one unified whole for the reader's enjoyment.

Okay, time to announce the final award for the year.

2009 Achievement Award: Downing Street

'The devil is in the details' and when it comes to the devilish mind of Downing Street, it is indeed the details that stand out.

His main topic of the 37 stories currently posted is commonly called 'Bimboization', the turning of hat had been an upright (or uptight) female member of society into a scantily clad, lustful trollope.

Downing Street does it in such an entertaining fashion and makes sure the reader feels they are taken long for the ride. In many of his stories, the change in clothing of our girl of question is so detailed, you would swear DS must have worked in a ladies clothing store.

It would seem such a simply genre, yet Downing Street has been able to give it believability in such venues as the law (Cromwell's Court Case), politics (Talked themselves into iti) and even something as simple as a girl's birthday (Harry Boobday) but despite the serious setting, DS makes the ride, and the bimbo-ing, quite fun.

Unfortunately, our English treasure has not written a story since 2006 and has said in forums he should be considered in basic semi-retirement.

As sad as that is to his legions of fans, it gives the Spiral Awards committee the opportunity to present to Downing Street our second Achievement Award.
