Ok, so i want to contribute to the manip community in any way that i can, and from the looks of it right now thats by maniping the crap out of stuff and posting it. But being the perfectionist that i am i want to make sure i do it right.
so here is a call to the masters. can someone please post a tutorial or pointers or hints or something. For me in particular its limb and head removal or connectors. i think i pretty well have panels and the like under control. But limb/head removal seems to elude me.
someone please help.

I don't do much limb/head removal, but when I do, it requires two tools, a cloning tool and a good cut selection tool. I don't use photoshop, but know it has both of those tools as does gimp and photostudio.
First, select and copy the limb / head and make it it's own layer. Then use the cloning tool to clone the background over the old head/ limb. By putting the copied layer on top of the cloned layer, the effect will be no more original head / limb and a seamless background. Add depth to the areas of disconnection by creating a layer with lines drawn behind the copied head/limb at the disconnection points of a color that will blend (same way as making Seam lines) only part of the line will not be seen because it will be behind the head/limb layer.
Just a quick explanation, hope it helps.

As far as "removing" limbs goes - choosing your source image is key.
Try to find images where the model is standing in front of a solid color, or a regularly repeating pattern... as it's much easier to duplicate and place over the 'removed' portion of the original photo. If the background color or pattern has too much variation or drastic shading, it becomes very labor-intensive to make it look convincing...
Here's one I did rather easily by copy-pasting (plus a little blurring and such to make sure it blends correctly) the background color over where the head was... the head on the floor is from another photo in the same series that had convenient positioning...

Did a real quick manip using the technique outlined above, You can see that I moved the foot down and if you look closely, see where I cloned the tile into the background.
find it at... http://www.fembotwiki.com/images/e/e6/OOPS.jpg
P.S. 33cl33, that is a great manip!
