Golden Opportunity!!!!

Does the EXTREMELY lovely Lady pictured above look familiar to anybody here? Take a good look now.

No?

Here's a hint: check my Avatar.

:shock: :shock:

Yep. It's really her. Gina the Fembot, of Bionic Woman "Fembots In Las Vegas" fame - also known as actress Nancy Bleier. Nearly eight years ago, I attempted to locate her on the 'Net to find out what had happened to her since she dropped out of sight in the mid 1980's. After plenty of rummaging around I managed to make contact with a cousin {also named Nancy Bleter!}, and she assured me the "other" Nancy was alive and well, keeping busy with other interests. I explained to Cousin Nancy a little bit about this place {which was still Noid's "Gynoid Gallery" then}, and asked her to ask "Our" Nancy if I might interview her via e-mail about any recollections she might have concerning her stint as a Fembot.

I was careful to put this place in the best light possible {emphasizing the fan aspects, not mentioning "fetish" at all}, and I was also careful not to come across as some deranged Web-stalker with my interview request. LSS, Cousin Nancy promised to forward my e-mail to Our Nancy, but nothing ever came of it, although Cousin Nancy maintained a brief correspondence with me for some months afterwards {we shared some common interests in music}. Needless to say, the notion was dropped when Our Nancy didn't respond.

The failed attempt quickly faded into background noise, but it never really left me; in the back of my mind I still had a feeling I might get another shot. Well, last night, who should I suddenly stumble across but "Our Nancy" - on a well-known "social networking site" no less!!! :shock: Now, before there's a stampede to try and contact her, please let me state my case thoroughly. First off, she likely has no idea this place even exists {unless she got - and remembers - my original e-mail}, and I'm fairly certain a mess of Friend Requests from total strangers might put her off a bit. Since this was my "crusade" originally, I'd like to be the one to attempt contact again. The basic reason hasn't changed; if she's agreeable, an interview with an iconic Fembot Actress would be a real coup for the community as a whole.

However, I still want to be extremely careful in my initial approach, as well as thereafter if green-lighted. Therefore, the floor is open to suggestions about the best way to couch my initial contact and request. I'm pretty sure just blurting "Hey! Was it a blast playing a sexy robot 33 years ago on TV, or what?" wouldn't go over too well, right? I see this as a two-phase project: 1 - establish contact, and pitch the interview. 2 - the actual interview, made up with a consensus of questions. I have a general notion about #1, but more input is welcome. #2 ought to be set up to eliminate the typical 'fan' things like "Was Jennifer Darling REALLY that short?" or "What size were the boots you wore?" I think we all can do better than that, so start brainstorming! This could be fun, methinks.

With all that being said, it's my humble opinion that time has been most kind to Our Nancy, ideed! She still has that undeniable sex-appeal, and can still inflame the odd passion - or THREE!! :twisted: From what she's made public, I gather she's a born sucker for the Tango, and has a fondness for certain areas of Latino culture. She apparently keeps a thumb in Hollywood biz too, judging by some of her professional Friends. Shouldn't be too hard to estasblish some kind of rapport, provided I'm careful.

Before I attempt it though, I'd like to hear as many thoughts from the group as possible - this really would be for all of us, if Nancy's willing.

Have at it, Fellow Babies - I await and welcome any and all input. :wink:

{BTW - doesn't Nancy look sensational alongside herself here? I claim first Rights on a "Nancy Sandwich," AND the Sloppy Seconds!!! :twisted: }
Assemble the ladies? I didn't know that they were broken......

I'm sorry to say I can't think of any questions, but good luck with the interview. :D

Great find Baron.

Let me first echo your point about all of us NOT heading over to contact her.

To be perfectly blunt, and no offense meant, Ms. Bleier is/was, at best, a 3rd tier, B-movie actress from the 70's. A sudden surge of interest in her career from out of the blue would be looked at as more than just a little odd IMHO.

What exactly is your relationship to her? Is she just a friend of your cousins, or is she actually family? That would give you a better staring point.

Any conversation with her should take into account her entire "career" as a framing point. Take a peek at IMDB. Let's face it, most of the little dialog she had in The Bionic Woman were a couple of lines that were looped in with another actors voice. Hardly something a true fan would gush over in a letter.

After that initial ice breaker, you might then mention what a fan you were of the TV series in particular and noticed her work in that as well.

Then, and only then, you might get down to specifics;
  • What was it like on the set?
    How did you get into character?
    Did you use any other material as inspiration?
    Any funny/odd stories from the production you can share?
    Do you have any photos from the shoot? (I know, wishful thinking! :lol: )
Good luck with your effort. I have to wonder though, based on her lack of response from earlier if she even wants to talk about her acting career? Still, there's only one way to find out.

Good work, Baron! A few years back (my definition of 'few' expands as I get older) I was collecting screencaps of Nancy for a "Which Bleier Project." There were some from her appearance on the "Angels in Hiding" episode of Charlie's Angels, and I think one or two from Rollerball.

I would be more interested in hearing what she has to say about being an actress for episodic television in the 70s than I would about her specific appearance as a fembot. But if she wants to dwell on that, let her dwell! :)

Ask her what it was like to work with THE Ann McCurry. :lol:

It's over a year later, but if you haven't yet figured out an interview tack, here are a couple suggestsions:

Nancy was one of the featured players in Mike Nesmith's legendary ELEPHANT PARTS sketch video, and appeared in some material for his followup for NBC, "TELEVISION PARTS." There's all manner of information I'd sure like to know about Papa Nez, did she know about the music video revolution forthcoming, about whether her work in the sketches paved the way for the short form comedy videos we see on Funny or Die and YouTube, etc...

Also, Nancy was a featured dancer in Bruce Kimmel's cult film THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL with Cindy Williams. It's a really fun movie and I'd like to hear her tales from the set.

Having been a fan of Cindy Williams in her Laverne and Shirley days, I wouldnt even mind an interview with her!
I'm just a 'girl' who wants to become a fembot whats wrong with that?
