I'm much more excited that a FULL version of "Metropolis" has been discovered - and VERIFIED - just this summer!Rotwang wrote:Bruce Willis is working on a new flick

THEY FOUND A FULL VERSION! German? Like with the Gottfried Huppertz’s score? What about intertitles, is it a full set with the story FINALLY being told the way it was meant? Serious you need to link this? Is it a print from Germany or a US edited Print of from negatives?
HOLY FUCK Spill It!!

In early 1927 (between January and March) somebody bought a copy of the original film and took it back to Argentina where they played it for years. In the end the original print was copied on 16mm film and ended up in the hands of a collector. When he donated the print to the archive in Buenos Aires some time in the eighties they mentioned that this copy was extremely long, but nobody thought much of this. Until somebody acting upon this had a look and figured that this print might have missing parts. They took a DVD copy to Germany where they compared it to the studienfassung (incomplete study version with blanks filling in the bits missing) and they found that aside from one scene they had almost the entire film, though in a deplorable state. According to my sources it might not be restored before 2010 as they are now concentrating on the restoration of Die Niebelungen first.
