SQUARELABS : a comprehensive origin story of sexbots

Post by Kube² » Mon Sep 16, 2024 2:24 pm

Hi everyone ! I worked last year on a story in collaboration with NatalieBayer, she helped me so much i reworked the whole project and i can't wait to start publishing it here.

But before that, I wanted to share some informations about SquareLabs, the company that produces most of the robots in my stories. I'm also trying to create some lore for my future stories and new photo manip (now on Deviant Arts because they includes AI), I've always wanted to build a coherent world/universe for my robots in the same way there is lore in the MC4U-verse or in the Dyson-verse, here are some early attempts at that, I'm trying to make something very grounded in reality and technically/commercially plausible, it's still a work in progress I'm keen on feedback if you have any ideas I like, I'll incorporate them into the whole thing

SQUARELABS : a comprehensive origin story of sexbots (part 1 : The 600 series)

As soon as AI arrived in our daily lives via our phones and the Internet, the old dream of intelligent humanoid robots was almost immediately reborn.
AI giants like Nvidia and their peers have created AI computing platforms to support the development of humanoid robotics. This time it was going to be different, no sketchy hand-written programming for clumsy and ultra-expensive prototypes. When you build a robot, you also create a virtual twin of that robot. The virtual model of your robot will learn everything it has to do in the simulated reality of a supercomputer, then when the model is mature, you simply load it into the real, physical hardware version of the robot.

It was supposed to be a revolution, the robotic worker powered by generative AI was supposed to replace the human worker in all the most physically difficult professions or the most alienating and repetitive activities. But that's not really what happened.
Yes, it's true those first humanoid robots equipped with generative AI were much better than those from before but not enough to replace millions of human workers available everywhere. These decades of unbridled capitalism had indeed produced the perfect slave worker, far better than any robots, ready to work for any price as long as it's enough to survive, no need for artificial slaves when you've got plenty of organics ones, created by their mother, for free.

It took a few years for the market to understand the problem, but when it did, Nvidia's stock fell sharply as all of these new robotics startups went bankrupt, all but one: Squarelabs.

The reason Squarelabs survive the crash was simple. SquareLabs did not aim to create an humanoid robot to replace a domestic worker paid less than 6$ an hour, but a robot that could replace a luxury escort paid 600$ an hour. 600 $ an hour ! This is how Squarelabs explained to investors how their platform would be profitable unlike the others. They understood that from the point of view of profitability, even if the sex robot is 10 times more expensive to manufacture, it would still be 100 times more profitable to operate. "600 dollars an hour" It was with this simple pitch that SquareLabs convinced investors and it ultimately became the model number of the very first commercially viable humanoid robot, the 600 series.

Who could have guessed it ?
Yes, generative AI would allow the emergence of the first commercially profitable humanoid robots, but you will rather find these new kinds of machines in Vegas hotel rooms than in Amazon warehouses.

Can't wait to see :notworthy:

How can the lead save the sexbot from breaking down this time? And after saving her, can he/she afford to own her?
