My express purpose for registering was that I wanted to do an extensive rewrite of the "Create a Fembot" thing on the wiki. I saw the story as it stood as overly restrictive, incomplete, and a touch bland. Granted, my ambition far outstrips my motivation to work most of the time, but I'm thinking up ways I'd like to transform that puppy. Before I actually change anything, however, I wanted to make sure that I'm allowed to do such drastic edits (especially as a no-history noob), and that what I wanted to do was possible in the markup language.
General ideas:
- Redesign each page to read more like a commercial order form, including things like slogans, descriptions of option packages, and sales pitches.
- Add some generic futuristic world-building including a fictional currency and allusions to laws related to the care and rights of synthetic intelligences. Nothing extensive, nothing copyrighted or established, just something to give a bit of flavor to the program.
- VASTLY increase the number of options for each category. There's plenty of personality types beyond polite, assertive, and emotionless, just as an example.
- If possible, have some scripted options, such as RGB color pickers to decide hair, chassis, eye, etc. colors. I would likely avoid including any pics just for the sake of consistency.
- I had no intention of creating a CYOA after the ordering of the bot. I'm much better at world building and I'm not good at creating interesting characters or interactions. This was just meant as a very elaborate "toy" of sorts.
- Have a final confirmation page that can take inputs from the different steps and apply it to a shopping list of sorts before "ordering." Not sure if this is possible.
I've been drawing up ideas for the last few days and fully intend to use the "application" as it is for a base. I just wanted to really expand upon the idea of ordering a custom-tailored gynoid with a wide variety of options.

Sounds like a lot to fix. Why not build a new one, a better one? If you want help, I would be glad to assist in the different plot paths. I've been wanting to try to make something like a choose your own adventure.

Mainly because it's the same general idea. Rather than create a second scenario that's little more than an expansion pack, I would think to improve upon what is already there.

Robotman wrote:I would also urge you not to alter other people's writing in the Follow Your Own Plot section of FembotWiki. There's really no need to do that, when you can simply fork any story there from any point and take the story in your own way. Changing what other people have already written might seem like a good idea to you, but it might piss them off and cause hurt feelings all around. And I'll just say again that it's completely unnecessary to do it that way.
Okay, fair enough. This is why I asked. Thanks for the clarification. Now back to the drawing board. (Read: Notepad++)
