A Needed Improvement

Soon, We Will Have Robots That Can Sweat
Mark Strauss

Roboticists have invested considerable effort into making humans feel more comfortable when interacting with their mechanical counterparts. Much of the research to date has focused on making robots behave more naturally, such as using hand gestures and making eye contact. But what could be more natural than sweating?

Professor Tomoko Yonezawa and her research team at Kansai University want to endow robots with the same types of involuntary physiological reactions that we have, reports IEEE Spectrum. One prototype gets "goosebumps" when the robot is faced with a cool breeze or told a scary story. Another device is a robotic head that can perspire when feeling anxious:

You might ask, "Couldn't a robot just state its intentions and 'feelings' instead of needing this subtle and complex cue system?" According to research at Georgia Tech, sometimes we actually feel uneasy when the robot explicitly states its intent before an action. It's just... awkward.

What's more, Yonezawa says that "sometimes we make facial expressions that are different from what's going on in our mind." In contrast, involuntary behaviors reveal our "true feelings," and by giving robot these capabilities, we could feel more at ease with them, because we would be able to read their intentions.

This is what's needed. They also need to smell like flesh and not upholstery.

That's good.

Mine are completely indistinguishable from a human on the exterior. My appeal is the breaking of the facade with panels and limb removals.

I'd guess you could specify the smell and amount of sweat just as you can order a RealDoll's skin and hair and eye colors.
This is really a matter of what you actually want in a fembot. I'm simply interested in them as substitutes or standins for real females that appear to be real in as many physical -- maybe better, pseudobiological -- dimensions as possible. I'm not interested in machines as machines except as devices to do things too boring or difficult for humans, but rather as substitutes and therapeutic devices or pure aesthetic items.
There are perhaps two different orientations toward android machines.

My ideal fembot is basically indistinguishable from human, but lacking many of the processes that I find, and this is the technical term, "kinda icky". Sweat, pee, flatulence, etc.

Loud burps or farts, but only when the moment absolutely demands such a spot of humorous punctuation of sound or odor.
- Burps smell like chocolate chip cookies.
- Farts smell like flowers.

Sweat smells like pheromones and adrenaline.

 :rotfl:  :nothanks:

If the fart is going to smell different, then it should sound different, too. Nothing more disconcerting, I would think, than hearing a loud "PFFFFFFT" and then smelling flowers.

That's the idea. I have in mind a totally sexual bot, one that can exude pheromones and the like to create a really satisfying experience but with other options if for some reason one specifies them.
The purpose of machines is to perform tasks for us, including providing focused and extra involving emotional or physical experiences.
