"Manbots" in FC stories? (poll)

Post by apok » Wed Apr 17, 2013 10:43 pm

Hello, folks,
In my brainstorming of story ideas, I find myself considering adding male robot characters. Now, obviously, this is Fembot Central, and stories here ought to have a primary focus on fembots. That said, to what extent can "manbot" characters be involved in the stories, before the community says "maybe you should tone this down"? I'm just looking to gauge peoples' thoughts on the subject. And no, I am absolutely not considering guy-on-guy anything. Not my thing. Here's what I mean by each of these choices:

Yes - primary character
Manbot goes in for maintenance, and gets "serviced" by fembots. He shuts down, gets opened up, all that fun stuff.

Yes - secondary character
A fembot undergoes a sexy short-circuit while getting it on with her favorite mechanical male.

Somewhat - non-erotic context
A fembot goes shopping for new parts, and a manbot shopkeeper shows her the merchandise. No, that's not a euphemism.

Barely, only as an extra
Mentioned only in passing, but no manbot characters interact with the story.

No
No manbots allowed! Take your synthetic sausage elsewhere.

I don't care
Self-explanatory. Nobody's making anyone read anything here.

Ralph Nader
He never wins, but he always manages to get onto the ballot. Maybe this year is his year?

Thanks in advance for your input!

I don't see how your Nader option would give you any useful feedback, but it amused me :p

I don't feel like manbot(s) being enslaved.

I'd never vote for Ralph in RL, but "appropriate" threw me off. I'd say "I don't care - if they are tagged" like they do over at MCStories. Tagged, they won't lead to frustrated non-fans getting into the story, and then being disappointed or resenting their misspent time reading what they don't like. Your stories need a home, and aren't going to crowd anything or anyone else out, if labelled properly.

"Appropriate" aside,
- My personal preference, none.
- My bailout point, more than barely mentioned extras. I care about the power dynamics between characters, and having malebots complicates explanations of who has power, who will ultimately control.
- What I've seen in the stories I've read here, rather infrequent malebots, with minor roles.

- Dale Coba

I was gonna say "Whatever", but you know what?, I guess both the first and second options would be pretty fun and add some freshness to the already great collection of female robot-smut around these parts. So, go for broke. I'd be pretty cool with it.

I'm surprised, personally, that we don't have more male robots in our stories. I know the site is Fembot Central, but (1) if fembots exist one day, so will manbots; (2) I'm not really sure how it would change a story drastically if the male figure were fake as opposed to real; (3) having another character archetype increases creative options and has the potential to put the fembot role into even sharper relief. I would never have thought I would have enjoyed reading about shemale robots, for instance, until I read S.A.S.S.

But all that aside, apok, I don't think you should let what we think get in the way of a good story idea. We're supposed to be supporting the creative process, and it's clear you understand the primary focus of the site, so I look forward to reading what you come up with.

Hey, thanks for all the feedback, everybody! I didn't expect so many people to vote.

Dale Coba raises an excellent point. There's certainly no harm in tagging a story with an unusual amount of "manbot" content in it. Everyone wins!

Not sure how many members here know that in an early draft of THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME, Mandroids or "He-Bots" (as they are referred to in the script) are used by Dr. Evil to attack Austin Powers and Felicity Shagwell.

They are obviously intended to be the male equivalent to the Fembots in the first Austin Powers movie. I believe they are described as wearing Logan's Run style jumpsuits and always arrive on the scene to the tune of "Its Raining Men". They are also equipped with guns in their crotch area.

During the climax their heads explode when Felicity (Heather Graham) performs a sexually-charged striptease.

Its too bad that they were edited from the final draft. I wouldn't have minded seeing them in action.

Here is a link to the script:

In an upcoming story I have in mind. I do have three manbots as part of a 'special forces" team. I still developing the characters however. I believed a few posts back more character options were mentioned. That's always a plus in my book.
Sometimes you just gotta look at the Bryte side!

Yeah, I think it is the same thing but just different terms for it. Bionoid or Bioroid: A biologically engineered being, like a robot but with biological parts instead of mechanical ones. Like Melfina from Outlaw Star.
