Bionic Heart: A Visual Novel

Post by SmoothSteel » Tue May 22, 2012 6:58 pm

Hi all. First off, let me say it's nice there's a place like this. I've vowed to never tell a soul of my particular fascination with fembots (by the way, I loathe that term, since it seems almost derogatory. Maybe if I'd never heard it in that Austin Powers movie, it would be a different story. Either way, it's the only term I know for this, so I'll let it be), so it's refreshing to find a place where others understand.

Anyway, I'd like to present Bionic Heart, a small-time visual novel featuring a bionic woman as one of the main characters (and yes, she is a love interest). The game is rather short, at least for a single playthrough. That's because it actually has 24 endings, so there's some replay value. The only thing I didn't like was how the actual epilogue was reduced to just text on the screen with a narration. Still, it wraps things up well enough.

But the main reason I'm posting this is because I play both the main protagonist and antagonist of the game (namely, Luke and Richard). The game is fully voiced. I myself recorded over 2000 lines for it. Here's the thing, though. This was done near the beginning of my voice acting career, so my performances may seem rather lacking and amateurish, what with slurred sentences and odd deliveries. So don't feel bad if you'd prefer to turn the voices off. Still, I at least think I could have done worse. And some of my dry deliveries allow for some unintentional humor.

The link to the game's site is below, where you can download the demo or buy the full version. And no, I'm not just posting this to get some more revenue. I already got paid for the project, so I can't get anything else out of it. I honestly think at least some of you will enjoy it. It's got a good story, very good art, and you should grow to like the characters in the little time you spend with them. Give it a try, and have fun!

P.S. It's also available for Android.

Hello and welcome to Fembot Central. Actually I like the term "fembot" and prefer it over "gynoid." I guess because I grew up when the term was first used in The Six Million Dollar Man and also because it's more specific to a purely electronic/mechanical female robot. Gynoid can technically refer to a female biological/genetic android, an elemental based one (like the Enforcer in Hercules), a golem or magical based artificial woman, etc.

Anyway, many of us have felt the relief in knowing we are not alone in this and the good news is that it is becoming more acceptable and the "techno-sexual" community is constantly growing. I hope you find lots to like here and don't forget to check out the FembotWiki:

Thanks for sharing the link! It must have been fun making that.

Thanks for the welcome, and I've actually been lurking here for a bit before joining. I already have a small collection of images from the wiki as well.

I actually think I prefer "gynoid." It sounds like a more "scientific" term and thus I'm more inclined to take it seriously.

Awesome. Welcome and thanks for the game! Out of curiosity, what kind of rating/content would you give the full game?

Sorry, haven't been on in a while.

In terms of content, it never gets worse than a few f-bombs. At one point you see a woman naked, but covered up. Nothing beyond that. Not for kids, naturally, but still pretty tame by most "mature" game standards.
