I, Candy updates

Post by fection » Sun Jun 04, 2017 10:35 am

Hi there.
I've had a couple messages asking for an update on an animation ('I, Candy') I've been working on, so I thought I'd update here.
All I can say really is that work is continuing. I've added another couple shots recently but I'm still not sure when it will be finished, sorry. Partly due to available time and (unfortunately) partly due to motivation, progress has been slow, but it is getting there. I'm not going to give an estimate for when it might be finished as I think doing so might ironically cause me to miss the deadline.
But rest assured, work continues! I really appreciate people taking an interest.
fection.

Thanks a ton Fection for the update. I'm not gonna lie, I was one of those people wondering what had happened to you.
Believe me, there's a lot of people interested in your work. Happy to know you're okay though!

Don't lose that motivation!

Thanks for the update! I, ahem, understand exactly what it's like to miss self-imposed deadlines for contributions to FC, even if nothing I've done comes close to your incredible animations. The creative impulse can be fickle, and the will to put a few hours of work into a hobby project after getting home from a full (or more than full) day of work-work can be even more fickle. Don't think that anyone here will be irked or unhappy at having to wait that extra day/week/month that it takes you to make something really good; I think we're all too thrilled to have an artist of your caliber in this community to worry much about that kind of thing.

Incidentally, I've noticed that you seem to be using voice-actors in your most recent works instead of the old text-to-speech approach. I'm curious, are these members of the community, professionals you pay to perform the parts, or perhaps something else?

Also -- and I gently suggest this with a great deal of circumspection -- if it would not be burdensome, but maybe even as a boon to your creative process, could you perhaps outline in text what the basic storyboard is for the "I, Candy" piece? Or perhaps just flesh out more of the premise for us? I'm dying to know, but there's no need to spoil any details (unless you really want to indulge us). I get that there's some kind of confrontation between the Candybot and the ex-girlfriend -- a re-match, or a different robot altogether? And the setting is Candybot washing a car... Is it the standing in water thing again, or is there a twist? Certainly there are more elements involved... The imagination reels. This setup certainly leaves a lot of scope for the action.

Obnoxiously relentless inquisitive minds cry out for elaboration!

I think this is unlikely, at least. In the images Fection posted the soles of her shoes/feet seem to be sealed, in contrast to the charge-ports Chantelle 990 had. There's also that she's washing a car outdoors in the first place; in a narrative sense, almost flaunting that she's immune to the cause of her predecessor's demise.

Yes, this seems like sound speculation! I also noticed that the skin tone on the robot character was different, suggesting that this is not a refurbished re-match, but a different robot entirely. A newer model!

Well, I hope this doesn't spoil anything for anyone, but I can confirm that the 'I, Candy' fembot is a brand new Candy 1090. She has a slightly southern accent, as suggested by the voicing talent who, I would describe as 'something else'.
I can also confirm the return of everyone's favourite MacGuffin, The Cardboard Box.

MacGuffin is a so well developed character. Surely he would be on this new short

Just as an odd thought. We know that Candy was a refurbished unit at the beginning of the very first story (Charlie's Secondhand Angel). In this animation, are we seeing the cause of her refurbishment and resale?

The butterfly relased a video a day before the solar eclipse, in 20 of August 2017... "I candy" has 6 letters and 2017 plus 20 less 8 is 2029... does that mean that 2029 is when the animation will come out?

Well my friend, we should give him more time. He's more than likely very busy. I talked to him a bit sometime before and at that time he said "there's between two thirds and three quearters of the 'shots' done for the 'I, Candy' animation. It's just getting to the point where things are getting 'interesting'." He also mentioned that progress is very slow and that he doesn't wish to give an estimate to when it may be done. He's probably giving it the ol' Fection polish, so let's just wait it out.

Hear, hear, KinoLangDanzel.

I -- for, one -- am really wanting to see this one done. But not in an impatient way. I know whatever the wait, it will be worth it.

And I praise Fection every chance I get to encourage him! He represents an absolutely classic brand all his own here. He's one of the Bigs Ones. One of the Greats.

The first time I opened a fembot wiki/central page, In one of the many avatars it has had over the years, Fection already had made his awesome flash files,
coffee break made me feel stomach cramps back then when Gameboy color was new and final fantasy 7 didn't come in chapters.
Now I don't have idea how to open shockwave files and Frostillicus files have lost their audio...
There is nothing wrong with manips back then when content was rare but Fection was original.
Candy worst spy ever was a revelation for a large group of people on youtube.

I think many of us feel entitled to share lewd robot art here because of Fection, even if we don't have his good taste in not creating explicit pornographic content.
I think we shouldn't ask fection when, as that can be interpreted as pressure, and even worst, the need of meeting expectations~

Fection said that he lacked motivation, and of course we want to give him motivation. So I think if anything we should give Fection thanks for what he has created so far.

Thank you Fection, perhaps for your next project you should consider open a patreon!
there is a bunch of people on the internet excited in seeing your take on what ASFR is for you.

Regards

Hello there.
I've had a couple requests for an update on the 'I, Candy' animation, so:
Things are progressing well. I have a new computer, so processing the files is much more efficient now. I'm sorry to say I still think it's a few months away from completion. I've finished several new shots recently and I've been 'honing' earlier ones (It's taken me so long I think my style of drawing this animation has improved since I started).
But anyway; Work progresses. Please bear with me and apologies for the continuing, long wait.

Yes, nice!. I can't wait to see your new video.

This is just an idea: what if you make shorter videos? maybe you will have more motivation, it will be less time consuming, and less stressful.
I sometimes find myself losing creativity and motivation with long projects or videos, because they are so long, that when it's 70% done, my progress gets slower and slower.
I just think you are the best of the best in this community, you are doing a lot for us. So, the last thing I want, is for you to be tired or stressed.

Thank you for you work.

First up, the animation is almost finished. I'm currently still tweaking earlier shots and improving ones that now seem below-par. Then I'll need to add sound effects. But I'm hoping to have it ready for the end of the year; If that doesn't eventuate, I apologise ahead of time! Things sometimes take much longer than we'd like to think so I might be being overly optimistic. But hopefully it's not far off.
Also, a word of advice for anyone else attempting animation: Don't animate at 30 frames per second. And don't attempt to make your animation anything close to photo-realistic (which I still have not achieved!). You will quickly find 5 years of your life has disappeared. The next one I do will definitely be LOW frame rate and much more cartoony.
