I've been a little out of the loop. Working too much,.. but I just got a casting notice about this. I love JJ Abrahms.. so I'm super excited about it. BUT,.. we will have to wait and see...
One can only hope that Mr. Abrahms is contacting Ms. Knight to offer her a part as a fembot on a repair table in the lab. Open panel would be nice!

I just know that Yul Brynner aside,.. the old westworld both fascinated me and scared me.
But he was pretty creepy.

First little snippets from the actual show!

No fembot action at all. Judging from the still, things look like they might be a little more on the "organic" side.

Game of Thrones just added an eighth year to their plans.
Perhaps this buys WW some more time to mature.

Re: WESTWORLD IS BACK
I have to say that this line
First of all, why would the person of the scientist who discovered a rule matter? Do you not believe in computers because Alan Turing was gay? Do you not believe in radiation because Madame Curie was a Polish lady?
Second, not everyone who lived in the middle ages was a butt-sniffing moron. William of Ockham was a learned man. Some of things he thought to be true were objectively wrong; but that doesn't mean that we're smarter than him.
Third, William of Ockham was a Franciscan FRIAR. Neither Friars nor Monks (not exactly different) burned anyone at the stake; in fact even the Inquisition didn't have the power to do so outside Rome.
Sorry for the OT rant, but I had to vent. I have to say this does not bide well for the series. Unless the character is really a moron.
is absolutely appaling. One of his aides says that’s the “simplest solution,” to which Ford replies, “It’s the Occam’s Razor. … Occam was a 13th-century monk. He’d have us burned at the stake.”

"A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin"?
Oh, the edge. Oh, the self-seriousness. To be expected from "wanton rape is good plot addition" HBO, but still.

Sometimes i just ask myself when i see this in shows and movies.
"what is wrong with a "robot" just being a robot?"
Why do they now have to be clones (battlestar galactica) or made out of nanites (stargate, terminator etc)?
"Robot wives have needs, too"

Re: WESTWORLD IS BACK
Right....my long-awaited 2 cents.
3D-printed robots made from plastic? Not a problem for me. Hell, the Autons on Doctor Who are plastic, and the only thing keeping them from a spot in FembotWiki is that there haven't been any notable female Autons on TV, ever. Plastic still equates to "artificial" in my book (or my forum post, in this case)---it's better than having them be "biodroids" or some crap like that (apologies to the biodroid fans here).
And other than that possible new action figure smell after sex (anyone who's bought an NECA or DC Collectibles figure and taken a whiff right after unboxing it knows EXACTLY what I mean), a plastic fembot cowgirl might not be such a bad thing after all.

Re: WESTWORLD IS BACK
Contessa adds: "Darling... what part of my maiden name, 'De La Plastica,' does someone not get? Che palle! I could never oh-so-dramatically battle with my beloved Tidyshire family–and remember my every death–if I were built principally of heavy, easily-damaged metal. The same goes for Monica, even if she doesn't know it. When she wastes valuable scheming-and-flirting time hiking, riding and swimming, it's her flexible plastic structure that helps convince her she's human enough to enjoy those foolish pleasures. I simply must get her more interested in high fashion. Er–what were we talking about again?"DukeNukem 2417 wrote:Right....my long-awaited 2 cents.

Re: WESTWORLD IS BACK
Judging by previous descriptions and from the new teaser, I'm just not digging the whole 3D printed, molten plastic skeleton thing. While I'm still intrigued by the overall concept of this series, I don't think I'm going to get my money's worth when it comes to robotic content.

Not directly robot related, but it looks like they're going to be pushing the adult content with this;

Bear in mind the article is referencing extras. It's entirely possible this sort of "action" is relegated to quick moving or out of focus background elements. Not necessarily involving the principal actors.

https://twitter.com/WestworldHBO/status ... 9975421953 Teaser coming up. I'm about 90% sure that HBO is going to destroy the 1973 Westworld that I know and love. I'm not down for any philosophical, ethical, bio androids(?) bullcrap. I want to see some electro-mechanical fembots. Not sure that's what's going to happen here.

Few things could ever be as terrible as that Stepford remake. Except for the remake of LOST IN SPACE.Robotman wrote:I'm kind of worried about it too, to be honest. I have a feeling it will be "Frankenstein set in the Old West with violence and gore". I hope I'm wrong, but I can't shake the feeling that this might end up like the Stepford 2005 remake.
