The only thing wrong with the Cybermen is that we need a proper Cyberwoman design lol!

I'm just a 'girl' who wants to become a fembot whats wrong with that?

Re: TV'S 10 GREATEST ROBOTS | Den of Geek
There is a clear and glaring live-action bias. Even considering that the article is focusing on programs targeted at adults, any list of TV robots MUST include one of the all time greatest robots.

That list can bite his shiny metal ass! It's a good thing MST3K was represented though, otherwise I'd be really upset.

Re: TV'S 10 GREATEST ROBOTS | Den of Geek
Yes, but it was only a partial transformation, so they said, so that wasn't the full design look.
Women have been upgraded in the past in DW, but have come out looking just the same as the men
(The story with Roger Lloyd Pack in, and the Bluetooth type earpieces that controlled people, for example)

Also it was really terrible! I really prefer the older Cyberman. "WE MZZZT SURVIVE"Stephaniebot wrote:Yes, but it was only a partial transformation, so they said, so that wasn't the full design look.
I'm surprised that they didn't include any of the Terminators from The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Any list worth it's salt should include Summer Glau and/or Shirley Manson.
One last thing:
THE DALEKS ARE NOT ROBOTS!!

Arguably, the Daleks have the same inorganic-to-organic ratio as Cybermen, if not a higher one.muppetjedi wrote:THE DALEKS ARE NOT ROBOTS!!

Emotions: the Daleks have one, and the Cybermen none.
The Dalek brain is still intact, and their hate originates biologically.
Hence, the Cybermen are the robots.

Re: TV'S 10 GREATEST ROBOTS | Den of Geek
Before I begin, allow me a disclaimer of sorts: I'm aware that this is Fembot Central, a site populated by people obsessed with female robots, and I completely understand and respect the urge to feminize (or masculinize, for those so inclined) gender-neutral robots and other such characters or objects for erotic purposes. I am speaking here solely from the perspective of storytelling in the show's universe, and in no way do I wish to tread on anyone's sexual or erotic fantasies. This is something I've seen come up before and I simply wanted to put my thoughts on the matter down in writing.
Personally, the idea of Cyberwomen has never made sense to me.
They're called the Cybermen, sure, but their name isn't meant to imply a gender. The "-man" is meant to be the broader, gender-neutral version of the term, referring to the species. A Cyberman is literally a cybernetically-transformed [hu]man.
To introduce a Cyberwoman would actually contradict one of the fundamental concepts of their character: Their inhumanity. They are purposely designed to be unfamiliar and alien to us, and one commonly employed method in science fiction is to make the race ungendered and sexless. 'Alien' traits like these are very important to the character of the Cybermen, as they make their goal of transforming the human race so scary (or, for some of our friends on this forum, so exciting =P).
It's unfortunate that "male human" and "humanity" bleed together in our language via "man" and cause misunderstanding, but I digress.

Re: TV'S 10 GREATEST ROBOTS | Den of Geek
By definition, a Dalek is the combination of a modified travel machine exterior with a Kaled mutant inside. The Kaled's biological brain is cybernetically augmented by the computer controls within the travel machine, which are networked to the battle computer. Depending on how deep into Doctor Who lore you delve, it's been suggested that their hate is actually at least partially due to constant conditioning from the battle computer.dale coba wrote:Emotions: the Daleks have one, and the Cybermen none.

Hence, the Cybermen are the robots.
The Cyberman brain is no less biological than the Dalek brain, and despite a generalization of them as emotionless creatures, these can be re-awakened through use of either a cerebration mentor (if they're from Mondas) or damage to their inhibitor implant (if they are from Cybus industries). Moreover, there are cases in which Cybermen have exhibited emotional response without the interference of external devices:
http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Cyberman_% ... nd_emotion
More recently, Mr. Clever would tend to indicate that the capacity for emotion is definitely a component of Cyberman psychology, but is merely heavily suppressed.
Arguably, if the entire Dalek ethos can be distilled into "hate," the Cyberman ethos could reasonably be distilled into "fear." Their entire modus operandi revolves around a pathological aversion to death, and an inability to cope with the unknown or unfamiliar. We will survive. You will be made like us.

Technically, you could also include RoboCop, because he had a syndicated series.muppetjedi wrote: I'm surprised that they didn't include any of the Terminators from The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Any list worth it's salt should include Summer Glau and/or Shirley Manson.
And, I just realized this list also omitted H.E.L.P.E.R. from the Venture Bros., and he's awesome.
