Just wanted to bump this out of You Tube into it's own thread. May be just an actroid parody site, but it could bear watching when the "store" launches next month. I know I've already registered for mine.

Props to gyn2010 for the find.

Well, I hope nobody thinks they are selling REAL robots? :D

Notice, there is 15 days left to online store lauch. So after 2 weeks we will know what is all this about.

There's also a small "male version soon" notifiaction. I'm not waiting for a male version of course (LOL), but it sounds promising, like the joke will continue (or this is only a "dummy" text?).

Maybe they were inspired by "Love and Sex with Robots: The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships"? :)

Anyway. Joke or not, all this is very interesting, inspiring and great to look at.

Funny website. But it's clearly a joke, if you do a 'whois' the will find the address of the technician in the French city of 'Anger' (which is actually at 1 hour by car of my home). And the 'Japanese engineer' have the same English accent that me, which is very bad :D

We have to wait until the june 4 to know what they have in their head.

Anyway, I tried to translate the interview from http://www.homme.lycos.fr/minisite/la-femme-parfaite/

----------------
The AI ROBOTICS company was created 2 years ago by Etienne Fresse and Yoichi Yamato. They are two experts in robotics, they are working on new state of art technologies. Since 3 years, they work only on their female robot project "Lisa", which with the help of many investors, will be out on june 4. The company philosophy is turn to the improvement of life conditions and give access to high technologies to most people. The company is based in Kobe, Japan.

Interview :

How the Perfect woman project start ?

YY : With Etienne we immediately became friend. Our robotics passion make us closer. Very soon we have decide to build our own robot. We want to integrated all high technologies, but we keep in mind that the purpose is to serve people.

EF : For me, all began with a book : " Love + Sex With Robots: The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships" by David Levy. I always think that one day the technology allow us to build a robot which will be capable of perfectly imitate human reactions. It’s what we do with Lisa.

Which technologies you have used with Lisa ?

YY : We created a technology called RKS "Recognition Krax System" which gives vocal, touch and visual recognition. Lisa can recognize an object, a person, even a flower and make the difference between a rose or a tulip.

EF : Lisa can also have a real chat thanks to her real time up to date database. She integrates all the current events in her system. We also work to have the more smooth moves possible. It’s possible thanks to the multiplication of PA (Pressure Area [Note : I’m note sure of the translation here]) which can decompose the move with great accuracy.

Can you give us some example of what Lisa is capable ?

YY : Lisa can cook with what you have in your fridge (visual recognition), she can also do your shopping, housekeeping, or do an hydraulic massage to you. But she can also play chess, video games (more than 390) and even do some sports.

EF : We conceive Lisa like a real companion, she is here for gives you services. She dresses by herself and she charges her battery automatically. You can talk with her about current events, voyages, general knowledge, music. Lisa have an IQ of 130.
In privacy, Lisa will know how to satisfy all your desires, We work with a famous doctor in sexolgy who gives all his knowledge in the matter.

For who the perfect woman was conceive ?

EF : Lisa is a real substitute of a woman, she was conceive for all men, those who can not find love, those who want a female companion at evening when they are at home, those who would like to someone take care of them.

Why sell her on the Internet ?

YY : Above all, we want "democratize" robots, but also give to the most people the advantage of improve the life with high technology.
When the online shop will be opened ?

EF : The shop will be launch on june 4, at this date you will be able to choose the type of clothes, the eyes color and hair of your ‘Perfect Woman’. You can already pre-order to be sure to have her in the best time.

My guess is, that it's the beginning of an elaborate pitch for a movie like BORAT... using real folks as foils for an intricate joke. I could be wrong, and it would be WONDERFUL if I WAS... but SENSORS DETECT SOMETHING TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. -- minkwheel

Anyone seen that marionette skit from the film "Foreplay" with Pat Paulsen? This looks like something along those lines.

Probably is a big joke but, I've signed up for a Lisa - just incase. Also, be interesting to see what actually happens and how much they are charging for this thing, if its real, which I doubt.

Ok, look. I know this is not real. I know this is a joke. I'm very familiar with the current technology and know this isn't possible yet. I recognize where they got the pics of the animated mannequin they used as her body without skin. I could tell immediately when they showed her face that she was HUMAN. This doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the footage. I signed up several times because I'm just hoping for some SWEET pics to show up in my inbox with the specs that I asked for. That's all.

I have no doubt that this is likely some viral campaign to launch a new product or service, the revelation of which will probably turn out to be completely un-fembot related.

One thing I've learned from my time here is you have to take what you can find with these things, hoping for the best, but bracing for the worst. Sure, this may ultimately be a big letdown. It won't be the first. If something there appeals to you, go for it. So what if it turns out to be a joke? I, for one, plan to enjoy the ride for now and when it no longer amuses me, I'll hop off and wait for the next movie/tv show/web site that catches my fancy.

Those are just my two shiny pennies.

You know, this campaign is SO on point in capturing the entire online discourse around the ACTROID/EVER-1/Chinese knockoff competition/arms race/phenomenon... that my first thought, upon seeing it, was that it was a direct attack, an over-produced philosophical broadside (hey, it is French, after all). Another neighbourly reach across Eurasia to slap the Japanese around a little, as they do from time to time (between friends). And that this is all an obvious prelude to some sort of witty denunciation of artificial women and the men pathetic enough to want them, which at its best might be a film or something that this man is easily pathetic enough to see.

I know, I know, French or not, that's a longshot in the silly postmodern times we live in. Maybe I've become WAY too paranoid (or guilt-ridden?). Diesel jeans, as Rotwang suggested, seems a likelier sponsor. BUT...SINCE it's obviously not real, I'm not going to sign up for anything. Because on the off chance that it is an effort to get a serious point across (which, I apologize, I myself try to do far too often with these posts), those sign-ups would be the means to do it. "Look, mon Dieu, we've had 60,000 people sign up! Sickos! Now do you see what's wrong with our society, that people think the Perfect Woman is a Plastic Woman?"

Which completely overlooks a lot of us here, who are attracted to robots as robots, not because we hate real women, or are inept at real relationships, or have been so warped by consumerism that we think this is the way to go about things in general.

Yeah, reading way to much into this. I'm going to feel cheated when this all turns out to have been a promotion for an online dating service. Still...think twice before you sign up for something that obviously doesn't exist.

Understood, sir. That's why I used one of my throw-away email accounts to sign up  . I totally understand where you are coming from. I would hope that the opposite effect might also be true, though, in that they would see a huge response to interest in fembots and therefore do MORE marketing to that theme. And ultimately since there is a market for fembots, actually think about manufacturing them. I realize that this isn't the company that's going to do that, but when marketers see dollar signs (Euro signs?) then they don't care if it's politically correct. They will find a way to package it and sell it. Hopefully we can just get some more sweet footage or pics out of it.

Slightly more on-topic, I did a whois lookup on Perfect-woman.com, and found some pertinent facts. Usually, corporate run fake websites have ties to their parent companies listed in the whois record. The whois for perfect-woman.com lists only two parties: AI Robotics (Japan) and Nameshield (French equivalent of GoDaddy.com). The only fishy thing in that is why a Japanese company would register a domain through a French registrar.

Well, if you do sign up, it's not the end of the world. I mean, whatever this is, even if there is a serious message behind it, it's all in good fun. Really, it's a much safer bet than any of the adult sites claiming to specifically cater to us! If you get some pictures for your effort, Frostillicus, then I guess the joke will be on me.

But I think honest discussion of the issues involved would be immensely more valuable than "market research," and consumer society just blithely pressing on with the sale of mass produced robot women, regardless of the popular reaction. I actually hope this isn't just viral marketing nonsense.

And, I might as well say it... I'm stoked to see the male model....

Aaargh, I can't resist. I'm signing up. Why the hell not?
