Is this the end of Duke Nukem?

Post by DukeNukem 2417 » Thu May 14, 2009 5:40 am

www.3drealms.com

Apparently, 3D Realms, the company who gave the world games like Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior and Raptor: Call of the Shadows, is either shutting down or pulling off the biggest PR stunt in history. Seeing as how Duke is my namesake, I'm hoping that Duke Nukem forever still gets released, but if this really is the end for Duke, I won't change my handle to anything else out of respect for the old soldier.

So to the original Duke Nukem, and all his fans (including myself,) I'd like to give a hearty Semper Fi and HOO-RAH.

I think it's official now that we'll never see Duke Nukem Forever. :(

You will be missed, 3DRealms.

Thanks for the update, Robotman. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one pissed off about this.

In related news, I now officially hate X-Play's Adam Sessler for joking that his career outlasted DNF's development. I hope he gets fired for making that comment.

You're right, Robotman, I AM PISSED! Take-Two shouldn't have tried to snatch up the rights to 3D Realms' flagship character as if it was just another property to be attained and eventually cast aside. As for not disclosing any information, the entire plot's already been leaked! Take-Two really does need to STFU, as George Broussard himself said.

Unfortunately, I can't really argue that they didn't have it coming. I know how difficult game development is from experience. Making DNF should never have been this difficult.

If Jobs actually does that, I'm going to weep with joy. :D
