Big Hero 6

Anyone see this yet? Quite an enjoyable flick, with plenty of science-y stuff. And, of course, there's Baymax the Robot. The voice actor's delivery might be a good tool for aspiring robot performers.

Snarf, do you own stock in Disney or something?

We took our daughter to see this on Friday because she's been geeking out about since she heard it was coming out. She loved it, I was a bit underwhelmed but we didn't go for me.

Piracy against a megacorporation does nothing to offend my neutral good alignment.

The thing is, Disney is going to continue to make what makes money. Treasure Planet was an awesome movie. Do you see Treasure Planet merchandise anywhere? No, because it didn't make any money. Ergo, if you'd like to see more Marvel stuff animated (SQUIRREL GIRL MOVIE!!!), then Big Hero 6 needs to do Tangled/ Wreck-It Ralph numbers.

are you being sarcastic?, cause treasure planet (from my particular taste, respect) was awful (but then i thought sucker punch was a nice movie despite it flat lined near the end so i'm not a relaible source of criticsm, or anything at all.) guess im chaotic neutral.

Well, I really liked it, and it's sitting at approximately 70% on Rotten Tomatoes. Compare that to Cars 2, which, at best, can be called mediocre, but the franchise IS getting a third installment because it made a lot of money.

I doubt Disney makes too much money from airing the shows. The real money is in selling the merchandise licences. That's why they bought Muppets, Star Wars etc.

I'm not sure what shows you're referring to (though Disney's TV branch has been on fire as of late, with Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder and Star Wars Rebels getting ready to fill the soon-to-be void that Phineas & Ferb will leave once that's finally wrapped up), but yeah, merchandising is a big factor. Good news for BH6 is that I saw a lot of kids with the plush Baymax figures at the showing I went to on Sunday.
