A lot of websites are currently offline (read on)

A lot of websites, including Facebook, Google, Twitter, most news sites, etc., have gone offline since midnight ET this morning. Fortunately, sites like this one are still online. I can't wait it out for them to come back online so I'm turning in and hope that the problem is fixed by morning.
