Would it be possible to set up a URL rewrite to change all embedded fembotcentral.com links to fembotcentral.net, enabling those links to function again?
Of course, when fembotcentral.com becomes available, it'll probably be moot...
I also noticed that the board is still shortening fembotcentral.com URLs to show just the part past the hostname....

Re: URL rewrite from fembotcentral.com to fembotcentral.net
The forum and topic numbers have stayed the same, so changing a link from fembotcentral.com to fembotcentral.net did work for the embedded story links I edited earlier. I.E. Editing http://www.fembotcentral.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6888 to http://www.fembotcentral.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6888
Thanks for fixing the fembotcentral.com links, so at least people may catch they're linked to the old domain.

Re: URL rewrite from fembotcentral.com to fembotcentral.net
Earlier the fembotcentral.COM links were showing up as just the "viewtopic..." links, which would make it hard to spot old links. If you do get the old domain, it's pretty simple to set up a rewrite/redirect rule in Apache (if that's what's being used) to re-direct it to the new fembotcentral.net domain.Robotman wrote:I was not expecting that to work at all. I was actually going by the experience I had yesterday with changing some links to the search function, which didn't work when I just swapped out .com for .net. I'll have to see if I can try to do something more than a single-page redirect with the old domain if I get it.
And I also misunderstood you about the links. Off-site links will show up in full from now on, which is what I thought you meant:

As for the in-site links that just appear as "viewtopic...", I don't really know if we want that to change. I think it's a nice easy way to tell those two types of links apart.

Re: URL rewrite from fembotcentral.com to fembotcentral.net
I'm trying to do the same for the user profile links in the character play listing. But I'm unable to get a link to .net that doesn't prompt for re-login.
http://www.fembotcentral.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3203
As an example, here's my profile link as it used to be on the .com site:
http://www.fembotcentral.net/memberlist ... ile&u=6073
but when I use it, it prompts me for a login.
The way the board currently has the link our nicks is to include a "sid" field, which I assume is session id, which I also assume the server uses to recognize the comp/browser/user to not require that re-login.
Any thoughts on this one?
